CGSA GREENMATTER ONTARIO
REPORT
BY JIM FLETT
Most of the regional associations have now had their wrap up events of the season. Course managers are now focusing on final preparation work before the snow flies. The night-time temperatures have remained fairly warm throughout the region, keeping the turf still fairly actively growing. Many of the leaves on the trees are still green as a result.
The Fall Field Day held in Muskoka on Sept 22nd and 23rd went well despite the heavy rains that swept the area. There were 116 attendees playing in Tuesday's FFD event at Muskoka Lakes. Chris Dew from the National Golf Club was the low gross winner of the 2014 National Championship. Deni Torenzio and his crew had his course at The Rock GC in great shape for the 9 hole event after having to deal with some severe greenside washouts on a couple bunkers. Hats also go off to my crew who worked hard to restore the bunkers and get the course back and ready for was a successful Fall Field Day.
The OGSA conference is being held January 28-30 in Niagara Falls just before the CGSA show in Calgary February 2-6.
I encourage everyone to take advantage and register early for Calgary and save the $200 if you register before the end of October.
