From Shamrocks to Pine
An Irish Gathering
Killaloe's Annual Salute to the Green
August 13 thru 15

Plan to take in From the Green of the Shamrock to the Green of the Pine, at Killaloe's Irish Cultural Center. Curated by Shirley Mask Connolly, this year's display at the Irish Cultural Center (in the municipal building) focuses on the logging and lumbering history of local Irish settlement.

Then take a hike along some of our self-guided walking trials to help put our Irish heritage and culture into context.

Wolf Howl & BBQ
Mike Runtz Shouts Out at Basin Depot
Saturday, August 29

Join us at NOON for a beach-side BBQ. The Friends will be raising funds to help bring more programs like this to Bonnechere Park.

In the evening, join author and naturalist
Mike Runtz at the Davenport Centre for an excellent multimedia presentation about wolves, their habits and habitat.

Then head out to the long-abandoned logging settlement at Basin Depot, in neighbouring Algonquin Park.

Once there Mike will invite you all to send a call out to the night. If you are VERY lucky, the wolves will return your call with a chorus of yelps and howls. An unforgettable and bone-chilling experience!

Dress for the weather; plan to carpool.

To top kick off the evening, the Friends will be presenting the 2015 Directors Award to Mike for his many years of dedicated research and interpretation along the Little Bonnechere River. Mike's friends are invited to join us for this special presentation!

CONGRATULATIONS MIKE!
