AERO Conference Three Weeks Away!
The AERO conference is only three weeks away! Hard to believe! It probably snuck up on a lot of people because it is two and a half months earlier than last year. The main deadlines have been passed. It is still possible to get into the conference. The five day registration fee is now $275, but only for two more days (May 1st) when it will rise to the full price of $325/person. Rooms can still be reserved at the same low rate. People who want meals need to hurry, because we have to give the university final numbers this week.  You have until May 1st to select meals or our combined package of fees, room, and meals, which is only $529 total!

If people have groups, or need financial assistance, we want to help you attend the conference. You will need to write directly to us about your situation or call the office at (516) 621-2195. If you have any doubts about whether you should go, just look at the list of keynoters and workshops and think about the amazing networking that will be done here. This is probably the only time the conference will be held in the New York City area, so don't miss it! You'll never forget it!

If you have any questions or need to make any special arrangements write to jerryaero@aol.com.

Pioneering Democratic School Needs Your Help: HALFWAY THERE!
AERO attended IDEC 2002 in Christchurch, New Zealand where we successfully made a bid to host the 2003 conference.  The 2003 conference subsequently inspired ten years of successful AERO conferences.

Now, the host of IDEC 2002 is seeking donations to support their legal challenge to legislation that is threatening their status as a special character school. Tamariki is a pioneering democratic school founded in 1966 as an independent school which later integrated into the public system. Please consider supporting their campaign.

They need less than $3,000 USD more to reach their goal!

Being There with Jerry Mintz

On Friday the 26th I was a keynote speaker at the 10th Conference of Elementary-Secondary Teaching & Learning at Long Island University/Post. One unique aspect of this conference, organized by Professor Dengting Boyanton, was the student participation, making presentations about research they have done in the education field. One special event was a ribbon dance, done by Dr. Boyanton. Several LIU students signed up to attend the AERO conference to be held on the same campus next month.

Basir Mchawi, radio show host, activist and author dropped by the AERO booth at the Green Festival at the Javits Conference Center in Manhattan. Among other things he wrote one of the chapters in our book, Turning Points. He plans to soon have me on his show, Education at the Crossroads. Many people stopped by the AERO booth, to talk about alternatives, buy books and get information about the upcoming AERO conference.
