Hi Everyone!

Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success magazine and one of my biggest mentors and leadership gurus, reminded me the other day that no one ever succeeds alone.

All of my mentors have taught me this. I'll never forget the moment when my partner and #1 mentor Winn Claybaugh led his Shot-in-the-Arm class for all of the Paul Mitchell school owners; that was the day my eyes completely opened to the fact that I need people to help me succeed. Until then, I had lived almost my entire life thinking,
"I don't need anybody. I can do this all by myself." Even though I had played team sports my whole life, I had never truly gotten the message.

I hear similar statements from my staff and students all the time: "I don't need anybody." "I don't care if no one likes me." "I'm going to keep to myself from now on."

Can I just tell you that this is a very, very dangerous place to be? How do I know? Because I tried it for many years and I was not able to succeed in life or my business. I wasted a ton of years spinning my wheels.

Listen ... No one ever succeeds alone. Stop making it all about you.

Listen ... Some days when I'm not connected to God, I, too, make it all about me. I have pity parties. I whine. I complain.

So here's my challenge this week to myself and to you: Stop thinking or saying statements like, "I don't care what anyone thinks," or "I don't need anyone; I can do it myself."

Stop. Just stop. Instead, ask, "Who do I know who can help me?"

Trust me, when you really unlock your selfish behavior, someone surfaces. Join a church youth group. A Bible study. The Chamber of Commerce. One of my Mastermind groups!

Listen ... You've got this! I know you want this.

Remember, no one ever succeeds alone.
