Rural Electric CO-OP News:

A Project of the CURE Energy Program

Rural Electric CO-OP News is a source of information for co-op members in Minnesota and beyond. Generating electricity for all utilities, including rural electric co-ops, is no longer business as usual. REC's are responding to this challenge in different ways to meet regulation and serve member/customer demands. REC's that manage this transition well will insure a bright future for their co-op members.

A website/blog will accompany the Facebook page and is coming soon. Please contact Kristian Nyberg, Energy Program Coordinator, for any questions by emailing [email protected] or call the CURE office at (320)269-2984.

Meet Kristian Nyberg, CURE's Energy Program Coordinator, and Jordan Wente, CURE's Field Organizer and Policy Analyst. both will be working to develop and support CURE's Energy Program as it strives to advance Minnesota's transition to a clean energy economy.  Seizing the opportunity that renewable energy provides to farmers and rural communities reduces carbon emissions and ultimately helps us address climate change. For rural people its also a step forward to local self reliance and resilience.

Over the coming months CURE will be working in partnership with the Clean Energy and Jobs Campaign to push the state legislature to transition our state to clean, renewable energy like wind and solar and to improve energy efficiency.

Please join us on Monday, February 2, for a Minnesota Clean Energy & Jobs Day at the Capitol to show your support for clean energy in meetings with your state legislators. CURE has reserved vehicles for transporting people in west central Minnesota to the event and will be making stops in Montevideo, Willmar and Marshall. We will also provide trainings, meetings with legislatures, youth meetings with Governor Dayton and lunch.

Please register online today and let us know if you need a ride. If you have any questions, please contact Kristian Nyberg, CURE's Energy Program Coordinator, at [email protected] or by calling 952-564-7410.
