No December meeting.

Message From The President
The  November Dave nancelunch meeting regarding the lead free brass law that is taking effect in just a few weeks was very informative.  I'm sure everyone in attendance is now an expert on the new law and regulations.  There seem to be many unknowns at this point--which is not uncommon with our bureaucracy.

Thank you to all who brought toys or cash to be donated to Toys for Tots; we filled one very large box!   Hopefully we made a small difference in a child's Christmas.  Thank you to Dave Heffner for picking up an empty box and returning it full of toys!

We are making some changes and plans for Vendors Expo; it is expected to be held in March.  More details will be coming later.

There is no December meeting, so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Our January speaker will be Denny Smith, who is always very engaging, informative, and just an all-around good guy to have in our trade.

A Friendly Reminder About Your Plumbing License

The State of Indiana requires that you carry your license with you.  They don't automatically send you a new license.  Once you pay your renewal it is up to you to either order a copy of the license (and pay an additional fee) or go their website and print one for free.
News & Notes
Vendors Expo:  The GIPHCC Board of Directors is working on plans to change the Vendor Expo; thus, there will be no Vendor Expo this current year.  We are researching a new date in 2014.  Stay tuned for further details.

Thank you to Dann Holmes, NSF International, for his highly informative discussion on lead-free issues at the November meeting.

Housekeeping Issue:
Due to the timeliness of the November meeting issue, the meeting was extremely well attended; we had 50 attendees.  However, only 30 of them had pre-registered.  Primo's normally anticipates a 10% walk-in rate.  You can all do the math.  20 is far in excess of 3.

PLEASE, pre-register in the future; it's much easier for Primo's and for the person checking in attendees.

Yearly Charity DriveThis year's Toys for Tots donations were taken to the Marines by Dave Heffner.  Thank you to all who contributed; we were able to send an entire huge donation box of toys.  Our speaker also generously donated $45 to the cause.

For those of you who might wish to make a monetary donation as well, the address is United States Marine Corps, Toys for Tots/Indianapolis, 3010 N. White River Parkway E. Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46208.

Name Change:  Capital Mechanical Services will change the name of the company to CH Mechanical, Inc., effective January 1, 2014.

Lead Free Plumbing Training Online Course
This online course was developed based on a presentation made by members of  the Get the Lead Out Plumbing Consortium to provide education to industry stakeholders to promote understanding and compliance with the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act, which goes into effect in January 2014.
The online course will cover 5 major topics about the new lead free law:
  • the law and its background
  • interpretation issues relevant to the law
  • manufacturing issues surrounding the development of new lead free products
  • installation considerations for properly installing new lead free products
  • preparing for the implementation of the law
