A Message From your National President.
It's July already, can you believe it? Well, your National Council is off and running. What a June it was with a wonderful PARADE hosted by the Theta Kappa sisters. Congratulations to them on a wonderful job!
The work began immediately for National Council as we held our first meeting of the year Monday, June 23.
Our next meeting will be a Summer Council meeting in August at the National Office.
Being installed as your National President is such a surreal experience, there are so many details even in your Vice-President year to prepare for the event. It was well worth it and I thank all of you for your wonderful congratulatory remarks and well wishes. All the details of planning were well invested when my three granddaughters came to the podium with those yellow roses. Those moments are why we thank our God for each day and the blessing of working to help others.
As you start your year, remember to cherish your chapter and your sisters. They are so important to the TOTAL success of this organization. Hopefully, you can gain an understanding of each sister's life situation, recognize the value of each member, regardless of age, find the talents of each sister and use those talents to the betterment of your chapter, be encouragers and cheerleaders for each other, be patient, and most of all be open to new ideas and the future of this organization.
When new ideas for membership, cherishing your sisterhood and the health of your chapter, or creative new ways to publicize, I want to hear from you, so I can share these wonderful ideas.
The SPIRIT of our FOUNDERS still exists in each of you.
Love and Loyalty,
Cathy Etzler

We all need to keep the SPIRIT up in our chapters, we need to take care of ourselves FIRST and foremost for us to be an effective organization.
I created the following to use for a favor at a chapter meeting one year, and thought I would share it. It is always nice to let your chapter members know they are appreciated. This might be something you could use, and of course, pass out candy.
Be creative, and I sure there are many more words to use. Use these just as an example:
-- It was a great moment to have you here at Convention.
mo "mint"
-- We hope you find contentment in your Psi Iota Xi work.
content "mint"
-- Thank you for Making a commitment to Psi Iota Xi. We appreciate it.
commit "mint"
It is a true sentiment of your heart.

Ladies, one of my top priorities for the 2014-2015 year is to keep building- sections of that bridge to help our membership grow. As I stated in my speech at convention, publicity is the section of that bridge (brick) that lets people know about us and our chapters and the philanthropic work we do. For July, I have a couple of suggestions:
- Tell your community you attended Convention! Every year, we create a Press Release for your folder to take home to use in your local media. Let them know that being part of your group can also be fun!
- Almost every community has a summer festival. Be in the parade; if you work an event, wear your shirts; and if possible set up a membership table at the sidewalk sales.
Small ideas can construct that bridge and make us GROW!

Hoosier Arts Salon 90th Anniversary

The excitement was contagious as winners were announced during the "Hoosier Salon 90th Anniversary Annual Exhibition" held June 25 at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center. Connie McDaniel, National Project Chair, and Andrea English, NW District Officer, attended the celebration. Artists, along with their family and friends, shouted for joy at receiving the prestigious honors.
Guests were then treated to a private art showing and reception. "The Hoosier Salon strives to fulfill its vision for fostering visual art and its appreciation by offering a variety of programs designed to educate, inspire, and enhance the lives of the citizens of our state while promoting the creativity, talent and technique of Indiana artists." (Hoosier Salon Founding Purpose) Psi Iota Xi received special recognition on the poster displays, on the slide presentation of winners, and in the Exhibition book. Your generous support of the arts contributes to the success of these Hoosier artists.

Newsletter Archive/Social Media
Have you missed previous issues of our electronic newsletter? If so, click below and find a complete listing of our previous issues. Be sure to share this link with your other sisters who may not be opening their newsletters.
Several of you have mentioned that the first article in each of the archived newsletter is not archived in its entirety, I'm working on that for future articles, I'm not yet sure how to get those complete articles back into the archives.
Archived Newsletters Are you on Facebook? If so, stop by and say hello.
We have two pages with two different purposes. Main Page (accessible by this icon), is public and has posts from Psi Iota Xi that you may comment on. The Group Page is where you can opt in and post questions or ideas and get input from your sisters. It's currently public but, if you prefer, it can be made a private/closed group for members only. On this page, you can also announce events and activities with all of us there as well as recap the fun with photos! Don't forget that you can also add images to your comments!
Let us know what's going on in your chapter, post images from chapter meetings and events, let us know about significant happenings in your life - new baby/grandchild, new job, promotion, retirement, marriage, engagement, or whatever you'd like to share with your Psi Iota Xi sisters. We'd love to celebrate with you!
