Happy Holidays from Psi Iota Xi
Dear Sister,

I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round, as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys."  ~Charles Dickens

As Psi-Otes, I believe we strive to open our hearts to one another and our communities on a daily basis. Each year, we spend countless hours fundraising, attending meetings, presenting checks, working with those less fortunate and simply being selfless. Yet Christmas is a necessity for the world around us.  There has to be at least one day of the year to remind everyone that we're here for something else besides ourselves. It's a season for everyone to play catch-up on doing good deeds, remembering those who are most important, setting time aside for baking goodies and sharing them with loved ones and neighbors, and taking a day out of a busy schedule to visit a senior citizen friend who's in an assisted living or veterans' home. And for us, dear Psi-Otes, it's a time for us to reflect on all we've done and to challenge ourselves to do more!

Perhaps there's a dear friend or family member who needs to be forgiven. Perhaps there's a tear that needs to be wiped and perhaps a hug that needs to be given. This year, as you consider the reason for the season, let the glorious love of Christ embrace your heart as you stare at that sparkling Christmas tree. The greatest gift will always be the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in one another.

Merry Christmas to all Psi Otes!

-- Kim Crawley, National President
