      Cathedral Choir
The Cathedral welcomes new boys and girls from ages 7 to 15 to be part of the Cathedral Choir. Take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to give your child not only a free musical education but also an appreciation for singing and music that lasts a lifetime.

The Cathedral Choirs are open to all families. Our primary mission is to provide choral music for services in the Cathedral, but we are far more than a normal children's choir.

Cathedral Chorister Benefits include:
*Learning how to sing as a professional
Knowledge of music theory & sight singing
*Performing in different languages
*Gaining confidence and focus
*New friends in a caring environment
*Trips throughout the United States and England
*A lifelong appreciation for the finest music

We are now taking new boys and girls into our Junior Chorister program. The Junior Choristers rehearse once per week, on Tuesdays from 4:30 - 6:00, and sing every other week at the 9:30 Family Eucharist. Their weekly rehearsal and twice per month singing schedule will allow them to develop their musical skills at a more relaxed pace. And, there's now no need to choose between Church School or Choir - they can do both!

CONTACT US! Parents of children interested in the choir program should contact Larry Tremsky, Organist and Master of the Choirs at the Cathedral, 516.746.2955 ext. 18, to set up a time to meet and discuss this exciting opportunity. Or simply see him after church this Sunday or next.
I am the Cathedral. I came to the Cathedral for the first time on July 24, 2011. I was a 62 year old non-practicing Jew, looking for a spiritual home.  Returning from a visit to Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, New York, I suspected that the Episcopal Church was drawing me to it. The more I read about  "what we believe" in the Episcopal Church, the more I felt as if I had found what I was looking for.

And so began my journey toward baptism, scheduled for the Easter Vigil, 2012. Working with Rob Picken, I received many answers and he was most patient with my endless questions. I attended the Cathedral's services faithfully for nine months, without taking Communion, waiting for that moment on April 7, 2012, when I was FINALLY a Christian.

Easter morning 2012, I knew that for the first time in my life, my soul fit and I was home in the Cathedral. After a short time, I began to be involved in the various ministries. I started as an usher and have maintained participation in the following ministries:  I am a Lector, a member of the Altar Guild, scheduler of  the ROTA, an Acolyte and now I have become a Lay Eucharistic Minister with aspirations toward becoming a Eucharistic Visitor and anything else God calls me to do in the Cathedral.

I am the Cathedral because that is where I find my family, that is where I find unconditional love and acceptance, where I learn from the sermons and from scripture as I listen and am touched throughout the liturgical year as I continue to grow in Christ. I am indeed blessed to have found the Cathedral and the blessings increase, year by year.

I am a Christian. I am an Episcopalian. And I am the Cathedral.
