I Am the Cathedral - Attended Sunday School in the Cathedral House when I was very small and was selected for the Boys Choir when I was 8 years old. As a kid the Cathedral was always a safe place for me to be and I always felt Jesus was their and would give me strength to deal with my problems which were many at home and at school.

Always looked forward to choir practice and to sing at the Cathedral on Sunday, which was like paying God back a little for making me more comfortable. In High School some of us were trained to be Acolytes and I still felt very comfortable in the Cathedral, which to me was safe and always very accepting to everybody.

My wife is a Roman Catholic and we help support two churches in Garden City. When we were first married we attended both churches but eventually with small children, we had to stop this practice. I have been coming to the Cathedral usually by myself for many years.

In my later years, the one thing I have enjoyed the most is to Usher at the 9:30am Family Mass on Sundays. The young people and small children learning about the Trinity is wonderful to see.

My grandchildren are in college now and I miss when all of us were young but I have never had to miss the Cathedral. C. Bruce Till

Christian Education Program
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Cheerfully we are planning for the start of a new program year! Many exciting things will be happening this year in the Christian Education program. We hope you will take some time to grow with us. There are several opportunities for Christians of all ages to reflect on God's place in their lives. I encourage you to take full advantage of them.

Our discussions center around what brings us together under the sign of the cross. As Christians, where do we fit in? God's gift to us is the greatest ever given (John 3:16). What are our responsibilities as his children in the stewardship and ministry? Pretty heady stuff and thanks to our amazing team of teachers, even the children are "getting it". It is amazing affirmation to see God's love reflected in their eyes.

We are looking forward to the celebrations of our faith in the coming months -Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas and the Installation of our New Dean! But we don't want to rush. September will bring us special celebrations of its own. We will gather together to celebrate the New Year on Sunday the 13th with a Parish Breakfast at 9:00am in Mercer and the Blessing of Backpacks at the 10:00am Liturgy.

A Year at Incarnation
Did you know that the cathedral choirs released a CD this year called A Year at Incarnation? On Sunday, August 30th, copies of the CD will be available for sale after the service. Each CD is $15 and we accept cash, check or credit card. Please help support the cathedral choirs with your purchase. Thank you!
