NEWS from the CATHEDRAL
Lord God Almighty, in whose Name the founders of this country won liberty for themselves and for us, and lit the torch of freedom for nations then unborn: Grant, we beseech thee, that we and all the people of this land may have grace to maintain these liberties in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

In Observance of Independence Day, the Cathedral and Cathedral Office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd and Saturday July 4th.

Bishop Michael Curry of North Carolina elected Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church
In Response to the election, from the floor of the House of Bishops, Bishop Lawrence Provenzano said, "On behalf of the clergy and people of the Diocese of Long Island, I offer our prayers, and full support and cooperation to Presiding Bishop Elect, Bishop Michael Curry.

This Historic, decisive, bold and holy choice by the bishops of the church speaks loudly of the church's commitment to serve all God's people.

The election of Bishop Curry as the 27th Presiding Bishop is especially joy-filled news to our congregations of color.

Bishop Curry is a prophetic, bold friend of Jesus, and a true servant leader in the midst of the church."
