A Letter from Father Griffith
Following our Pentecost celebrations on Sunday, May 24th. Larry Tremsky, Canon Musician, will begin a summer sabbatical. This will be his first sabbatical since coming to the Cathedral in 2000. He has arranged for a wonderful combination of musical and linguistic learning that will take him first to the UK for 2 weeks, staying at Guildford Cathedral, whose Choir and Dean visited us in 2014, to observe Katherine Dienes-Williams work with the boys and girls in the course of a week, and also seeing their vocal coach, probably the best in the UK, at work. Week two will be spent in Winchester, with Malcolm Archer and his choristers at Winchester College, as well as observing Andrew Lumsden at Winchester Cathedral.

Larry will then travel to the Ukraine for six weeks,
staying in L'viv at the Ukrainian Catholic University, for language class. They are also setting up various choirs to observe in the area as well as in Kyiv. He has also have arranged a week to study sacred texts, with the thoughts of future performances in Garden City. Then he returns to the US in late July, after a week of travel throughout the continent.

In early August, he travels to Princeton, NJ, to attend a five day choir training symposium at Westminster Choir College; then travels to Rochester, NY, for two weeks of time for intensive practice, mostly using the new organ built by Paul Fritts at Sacred Heart Cathedral. He returns to Garden City just after Labor Day. During Larry's absence Vince Carr will be responsible for our summer music.

There will be a reception to wish his 'Bon Voyage" following the 10:00 am Pentecost Eucharist.

Bruce D Griffith

Acting Dean

Our Summer Service Schedule will begin this Sunday, May 24, 2015. The Eucharist will be celebrated at 8:00 am and 10:00 am, all are welcome.

Save the Date
Dear Class of 2015,

Grab your friends, youth group, parents, youth leaders, clergy, and parish members and come to the Cathedral on Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 am for a party celebrating you!  We are so proud of what you have accomplished and how you have grown in your faith.  This is your chance to see all of your buddies from across the diocese that you met during youth events like EYE, Diocesan Convention, Bowling with the Bishop, Retreats, TEC, Mission Trips or the Acolyte Festival.  Come to worship, take pictures and eat good food!  We will have "Mass on the Grass" and groove to the sounds of a steel pan band while enjoying some BBQ before we depart.  Both of our Bishops will be there to celebrate you along with many from the Diocesan family so register online ASAP!

I've attached a flyer/invitation that you can share with others, so spread the word. More information can be found on the Diocese webpage.  See you there!

Peace and Blessings,

Ms. Myra
