A Pastoral Letter from Bishop Provenzano in Response to Nepal Earthquake

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

As you are all aware, our brothers and sisters in Nepal are dealing with the tragic aftermath of an earthquake and aftershocks that have devastated Katmandu and villages in the surrounding areas. From the continuing news coverage, it is clear that we are only beginning to see the extent of the destruction and resulting human need.

Out of care and concern for the people of Nepal and for those here in our diocese with loved ones in Nepal, I am asking that each parish of the diocese consider designating a special offering this Sunday for Episcopal Relief and Development, which is working with other agencies in the region to provide direct support to the people devastated by the earthquake.

Below you will find a link to the Episcopal Relief and Development response with information on how to donate to the "Nepal Earthquake Response Fund"

Please join me in offering our prayers for all of our brothers and sisters who have been affected.

Sincerely yours in Christ

The Right Reverend Lawrence C. Provenzano,

Bishop of Long Island
