NEWS from the CATHEDRAL
Thank you for supporting the Pancake Breakfast!
We would like to thank everyone who came out to support the Mothering Sunday Pancake Breakfast on March 15th. We served almost 100 people on Sunday. We especially want to thank Jeanine Prysock-Gonzalez and her team, you all should give yourselves applause for the great job you did with the pancake breakfast! Without all of you this breakfast couldn't have gone off as well as it did. We look forward to working with all of you again.
Below are some images from the breakfast.

Mass for the Anointing of the Sick and Walking the Labyrinth

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Come join us Wednesday evening at the Mercer School of Theology for a Service of Anointing of the Sick and for an opportunity to walk the Labyrinth.

The Service of the Anointing of the Sick will begin at 7:30pm in the Mercer Chapel. St James reminds us in chapter 5 of his letter; "Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." Everyone is welcomed to come forward for the anointing with oil and receive the laying on of hands whether you are experiencing an illness or praying for someone else.

You may walk the labyrinth (in the Mercer Library) before the Anointing Service or following the service. The labyrinth will be available from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.

The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. It has a single circuitous path that winds its way into the center. The person walking it uses the same path to return from the center and the entrance then becomes the exit. The path is in full view, which allows a person to be quiet and focus internally.

Generally there are three stages to the walk: releasing on the way in, receiving in the center and returning when you follow the return path back out of the labyrinth. Symbolically, and sometimes actually, you are taking back out into the world that which you have received.

There is no right way or wrong way to walk a labyrinth. Use the labyrinth in any way that meets what you need while being respectful of others walking. You may go directly to the center to sit quietly -- whatever meets your needs.

To prepare, you may want to sit quietly to reflect before walking the labyrinth. Some people come with questions, others just to slow down and take time out from a busy life. Some come to find strength to take the next step. Many come during times of grief and loss.

There are many ways to describe a labyrinth. It is a path of prayer, a walking meditation, a crucible of change, a watering hole for the spirit and a mirror of the soul.
