MCN

Greetings,

Every year, thousands of workers become sick from exposure to heat, and some even die. These illnesses and deaths are preventable. As much of the country is in the midst of a record breaking heat wave MCN wants to bring your attention to educational resources that highlight ways to prevent heat illness. Please check the heat illness page of our website for culturally appropriate resources for migrants and others working outdoors or living without air-conditioning.

  Prevent Heat Illness

Remind anyone you know who works outdoors to take these 3 steps to reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses:

Stay Hydrated: drink water before you get thirsty and avoid beverages with caffeine.

Take frequent breaks in shade to allow the body to cool.

Wear loose fitting, light-colored clothing to allow the skin to breathe.
