KCTC'S NEW YEAR'S DAY RUN

The Track Club is hosting its annual Free Fun Run on New Year's morning at the Athletic Club of Overland Park! Join us at 10 AM to run 0 to 10 miles on paved trails. There will be free coffee and donuts after the run and the Athletic Club's cafe will be open for breakfast! Free child care with reservation!  
 
    
 
Looking to run a Half Marathon this Spring? Join our 14 week Half Marathon Training Program. We start Saturday, January 4th at 7 AM at 55th and Brookside! We will meet at this time/location every week for 14 weeks. Jennifer Ristau, an RRCA certified coach will lead this group to glory and ensure you can go the distance at any of the spring half marathons.
 
Registration Includes: 
- Weekly training plan with incremental mileage increase
- Saturday morning groups with aid stations
- Guidance from KCTC certified coaches
- Free shirt from KCTC
- New friends! 
 
 $15 for KCTC members.  KCTC membership is $20/year.


RUNNING ON SOLID GROUND

The Kansas City Track Club (KCTC) presents "Running on Solid Ground," a series of four clinics this winter/spring to improve your fitness during the inclement weather.  The clinics are on the first Tuesday evening of the month from January to April with the first three events at Kansas City Plaza Library's (4801 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64112) Large Conference Room from 6:30-7:30 PM with a social following each event at Spin Pizza (4950 Main St, Kansas City, MO 64112) which has graciously offered a 10% discount on food immediately following the event.  The last clinic is at Shawnee Mission East High School (75th and Mission).  KCTC with the support of Garry Gribble's Running Sports will raffle apparel and gift certificates at each program.  Clinics are free and open to the public.  

January 7th, "Endurance Athlete Diet Concepts" by Dr. Jeff Remsburg, DC, will discuss nutrition with a focus on high fat and leaky gut considerations in endurance athletes. 

February 4th, "Putting the Right Shoe on the Right Foot" by Eric Hunt who discusses the proper running shoe, and Dr. Tom Cotter, DC will discuss minimalist shoes and custom orthotics.

March 4th, "Train Your Brain" a Kansas City sports psychologist will discuss mental training for your next event or training session. 

April 1st, "Dynamic Warm-up" by Angie M. Gutierrez, PT, DPT will lead participants learning a proper, dynamic warm up at Shawnee Mission East High School.

BEGINNING RUNNER'S CLASS 
 

Many of you will be making resolutions and commitments to a healthier lifestyle in 2014. Sometimes you need a little extra motivation and encouragement to get started though. The KCTC Beginning Runner's Class is a 10 week session designed to help those who are new to running and walking. Participants meet at 5:45pm at Garry Gribbles Running Sports (Ward Parkway Center). Each class includes a brief informational session followed by a walk/run of increasing distance.  

You must be a member of KCTC (annual fee of $20 per individual, $25 per family). Feel free to join here or become a member at the class.
