JOURNEY FOR HOPE

Kansas City Track Club member Dustin Criscione will be running across the state of Kansas to raise awareness for brain injury survivors. Dustin is a survivor himself, suffering a head injury at age 9 when being struck by a car while riding his bicycle. Head injuries can often have negative long-term effects. To combat some of these effects, Dustin took up running by joining our Northland Runners group! On September 21st, Dustin will start his 452 mile journey from Garry Gribble's Running Sports at the Ward Parkway Center to Colorado. He intends to run 30-40 miles each day, completing this run in 16-21 days, all while bringing awareness to all other head injury survivors and to support the Brain Injury Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City which has helped thousands of head injury survivors.

If you would like to run part of the journey with Dustin or aid him financially on this trip, please visit his Facebook and Fundraising pages.

RISE AND SHINE

We have come up with a brilliant solution to beat the heat of the hot summer sun -run before the sun comes up. Every Wednesday at 5:30 AM we meet at Mill Creek Park on the Plaza, taking off down the Trolley Trail for an easy, flat run of up to 7 miles. Runners may turnaround at any point if they don't want to do the full 7. This run is currently our only group run to meet on weekday mornings. E-mail any questions to group leader, Katie Brake ([email protected]).

We have also started a new run on Sunday mornings in Prairie Village! Meet in the Hen House parking lot at 6 AM for a run of up to 6 miles. E-mail Coach Carstens ([email protected]) with any questions.

Now set all of your alarms and come check out KCTC's newest running groups and experience the coolest parst of the summer!
