Hot Read: Ward Parkway
Thanksgiving Day Run/Walk

Some people look forward to the time off work. Others are excited about the opportunity to grab second helpings (& thirds) of their favorite family recipe. We're just excited about the great race to kick off the day -none better than the Ward Parkway Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk! This races features tech shirts, pumpkin pie, Starbucks coffee, team prizes, video/Facebook results, and tons of wild turkeys (or at least wild runners dressed up like turkeys)! The best part is that it benefits organizations like Harvesters and EndHunger.org, meaning everyone will get to eat this Thanksgiving! Be sure to register here and keep tabs on the Facebook page to see how you can collect more free stuff!
Event Recap: Cliff Hanger 5K, 8K Run

The 27th running of KCTC's Cliff Hanger 5K, 8K could not have taken place on a more beautiful day! Nearly 800 participants hit the historic, rarely-run-upon road that is Cliff Drive and enjoyed some great weather, great competition, and great pancakes!

The pictures turned out great and will give you just a little sense of what the runners were able to experience on the course. A major thanks to David Remley for his breathtaking photos, as well as the folks at SeeKCRun

A new results system was in ploy for this year's race that enabled participants to receive live results to their Facebook/Twitter pages & see a video of each participant crossing the finish line! Click here to see these slick results! This same system will be used for the next KCTC event- Westport St. Patrick's Day Run

Trending Up: Running on Solid Ground

"Running on Solid Ground" is a series of four fitness clinics over the winter/spring that will help you improve your fitness while the weather's rough. Last year's series was a huge success and we expect even more people from the community and KCTC this year!
The clinics run from 6:30 to 7:30 PM on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from January to April at the Kansas City Plaza Library.

KCTC, with the support of Garry Gribble's Running Sports, will raffle off apparel and gift certificates at each program. Following each clinic will be a social event at Spin Pizza  (10% off). These clinics are free and open to all!

Click here for further information and to find out the topic for each clinic.
Stride Against Sandy

KCTC's weekly WNR will meet at Garry Gribble's Running Sports on Wednesday, November 28th, in an effort to raise money for victims of the recent hurricane to hit the northeast.  We are asking that each person make a $10 donation to the Red Cross to help out these families. You can sign up here for the run and donate your $10. You may also donate at the event. The run starts at 6 PM and we will be having the potluck inside of the store after the run. Be sure to bring your dish or drink! Even if you cannot participate, feel free to make a donation.
Election Time

Before you get out of the voting mood, KCTC is having its biannual election for Board Members. It's all the fun of a regular election, without having to worry about slandering ads from opposing candidates and annoying posts from your (former) Facebook friends.

Be on the lookout for an e-mail with voting instructions on who you would like to represent you, the people, as Track Club Board Members. Be sure to vote carefully, knowing that the people you vote into office could dramatically impact the lives of your children's children and the future of this nation as a whole.
