From the Executive Director:
Dear Colleagues,
Last Sunday I watched a 60 Minutes segment about the new 9-11 Museum which is under construction below Ground Zero - or actually in the heart of Ground Zero. You can watch the segment by clicking here. Most of us remember where we were that day as we remember where we were for many very tragic days during our lives. I recently had the opportunity to be in NYC and visit the 9-11 Memorial which is above the Museum. The process of building the museum and deciding what to show people and what NOT...

Back to School Webinar Series
The next webinar in our Back to School Series is:
Date: September 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm ET Presenter: Ann McCollum, Risk Management Consultant
Description: As for most risk management issues, schools are prepared with resources and plans to address student needs as they arise and to provide proper care . . . as long as they occur on campus. But as schools take students off campus - to locations from the local museum to international destinations - faculty leaders are less trained, plans are less solid, and the students can be more fragile. Are your trip leaders prepared (in the moment) to address, stabilize, and possibly make an "evacuation" decision for issues such as debilitating homesickness, culture shock, reports of abuse, depression, students who choose to stop taking needed medications, or discovery of self-harm such as cutting? Are you prepared with a plan for mental health and emotional issues that show themselves off-campus, and do you know the country's perspective on mental illness? This session will introduce educators to issues to consider and potential solutions to add to your overall risk management plan.
