From the Executive Director:
Dear Colleagues,
I am preparing this week to serve on the faculty for the Association of Independent School Admission Professionals (AISAP) Annual Admission Institute which will be hosted by Harpeth Hall in Nashville, TN. I have had the opportunity to be part of this great event for many years. Typically, I am one of only a couple of 'business officer' type people. Business Officers and admission professionals at independent schools must work very closely together to help ensure their schools' success. Admissions (tuition) account for about 85% of the revenues for most of our schools and approaches 100% in some schools. Additionally, financial aid can be viewed as the greatest expense after compensation. For these two reasons, among others, the admission professionals need to be integrated into the financial decision making process of our schools.
In a recently released report by SSATB - 2013 State of the Independent School Admission Industry, I was very troubled to see the following statistics:

Back to School Webinar Series
The first webinar in our Back to School Series is:
Health Care Reform Federal Rating Rule Changes: Preparing For Small Group Rate Shock
Date: August 7, 2013 at 2:00 PM ET Presenter: David A. Shore - VP, Employee Benefits Practice Leader Description: This webinar will discuss the ACA Federal Rating Rule changes: What does this mean? How do you help a small group client decide if they should take advantage of an early renewal? First, know that there will be winners and losers in this process. Small(er) small groups may benefit from the pricing change. Larg(er) small groups will not. The problems compound for clients that were previously in a "good risk" industry e.g. technology companies or schools. Clients in higher risk industries - e.g. dynamite manufacturers will benefit. This session is extremely important to our member schools - do NOT miss it!

New Member Benefit
MISBO wants to let you know that as our Professional Development program continues to grow, we will be archiving presentations from our past conferences and events to one web page as a new member benefit. We know it will be a tremendous resource of valuable information to those who were unable to attend the conferences in person.
We have just added the presentations from our FISBO/MISBO Conference in early May. The materials can be found by clicking here and logging in to our member portal.
We will notify you when we add new events to this page.

Membership Renewal
It is now time to renew your MISBO membership for the 13-14 school year. Renewal invoices were mailed in May. Please note the invoices were based on the student count we have on record for your school.
