Dear Friends,
As we write to you this morning, it is at the beginning of our first day calling Gainesville home. Well, sort of...after all, it is a homecoming for Catherine, which brings with it a wonderful feeling of returning to her roots.
Since learning of our appointment to Trinity back in April, more than a few of you have already greeted us with the familiar words, "Welcome Home." We thank you for your warmth and hospitality. We are particularly grateful for Rev. Dan Johnson and his generous affirmation of us coming to serve alongside you as your pastors.
After 19 years of ministry in one community, we could not have asked for a better place to be for our next season of ministry. It's an honor and privilege to be two of your pastors. We are grateful for the many exciting ways you are already engaged in ministry in this community and around the world and look forward to learning more about them. We are also excited to partner with you in discovering more of God's dreams for the future of Trinity.
We are just a few weeks away from our first Sunday in worship together, so mark your calendars now for August 7th if you haven't already. You might also start thinking of a friend or neighbor that you could invite to worship that day. New beginnings are always a good entry point for newcomers, and we would love to be able to greet them with those same words you have used to greet us: "Welcome Home."
In the meantime, if you use social media we would love to connect with you there. You can find Catherine on Facebook and you can also connect with Steve on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Speaking of which, what is it about Trinity that made you feel like you found home? We'd love to hear your comments and see your pics. Post them and add #WelcomeHomeTrinity so others can check them out as well. Leaning into God's future,
Catherine and Steve
