Epiphany

After the death of Moses the servant of The Lord, The Lord said to Joshua, son of Nun, Moses' aide:  (Joshua 1:1).

Epiphany is the day that tradition holds as the day of the visit of the Magi and the giving of their gifts to the Christ Child, a day that is huge in many cultures.  It is a celebration of the "manifestation" of the Christ Child to the Gentile world - a foreshadowing of the spreading of the Good News to those of us who were not born into Jewish families.

Epiphany is also the day when the Greek young men dive for the Epiphany Cross (friends have invited us to witness this with them in Tarpon Springs, after a beautiful worship service, so Jan and I will be there as you read this); an event which coincides with the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus.

Tomorrow we will return to Joshua, but for now, on this day of Epiphany, I remind myself and you of the sacred privilege and calling that is ours to share the good news of Jesus to all the world.

Love and prayers, Dan
