Resting At His Feet

Scripture: "Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him! Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness." - 1 Chronicles 16:29

When I first started thinking about what worshiping Christ means in our daily life, I thought about resting at His feet. As a baby, our Christ was worshipped by the visitors from the East as mentioned in Matthew 2:11 - "and when they saw the child with his mother Mary, they knelt down and worshiped him. They brought out their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and presented them to him." In this passage, there were no acts of service yet...just bringing Him
the "firstfruits" of their belongings (or "tithe"). They gave Him respect and honor with a physical offering and in drinking in the Grace of the world by admiring Him.

Another passage comes to mind where someone comes to Jesus' feet in worship and in rest - and that is when Jesus visits the home of Martha and Mary in Luke 10. In verses 39-42, Martha had a sister Mary who "sat down at the feet of the Lord and listened to his teaching." Mary had a lot of work to do and pleaded with the Lord to have her sister come and help her. The Lord
reminded Martha that we all need to only focus on one thing - sitting at His feet in worship and at rest!

Are we resting at the feet of Jesus every day? Are we presenting Him the tithe of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength and praising Him for each day of His blessing and favor?  Come and worship!

Prayer: Remind us during this busy Advent Season to take a moment each day to sit at Jesus' feet in wonder, thankful to be so beloved and precious in His sight and Yours. May we bask in Your infinite grace and love until we are so love-soaked that we can't help but overflow with Your Presence everywhere we go and in everything we do, by the power and counsel of your
Holy Spirit. In Jesus' Name we ask this - Amen!
