When the Pope Comes to Town

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of The Lord our God (Psalm 20:7).

I understand that it will be hard/impossible for the press, bloggers and radio talk people to really "get" the Pope; I understand why they only can see "chariots and horses" (read: political and ideological agendas) when they evaluate Pope Francis's visit here, because they can't see that he is really about Spirit and Soul and living out what he believes it means to be a follower of Jesus.  But let's not make that mistake; let's see the Pope's visit for what it truly is: a sign, a light shining in our gray world.  This Pope demonstrates beautifully what it means to live by a high moral standard, while at the same time being loving and merciful and gracious to all.  He isn't into ideology; not talking about the poor, but living with the poor.

I think he is a most remarkable man, a lot like his namesake.  They
both had/have an uncanny ability to "trust in the name of The Lord,
and not in chariots or horses."  May we so seek to live, too!

Love and prayers, Dan
