Friends, Please welcome with me Trinity's newest members into Full Membership who joined during our Easter Vigil on Saturday: Anne B & Don Barber, Linda Buth, Signe Erickson, Sherry Gaither, Jhanna & Ryan Gilbert, Carolyn Hopkins, Bonnie Jernigan, Pat Murphy Landis, Kelly Lundy, Matt & Crystal Pinkoson, Nick & Susan Reed, Beverly Steiff and Jennifer Stirling. As Baptized Members: Colin Emerson Hays, Harper Hanna Gilbert and Thatcher Shaw Gilbert. We look forward to growing together with them on this journey we call knowing, loving, and serving God. When you see them, reach out and welcome them to Trinity. Also, please join me in praying for this wonderful group of young people who will be joining Trinity this coming Sunday as a part of our Confirmation Class: Luke Alexander, Leah Barone, Davis Beck, Ella Crosby, Nathaniel Cuneo, Charlie Delatorre, Charlie Dupee, Aiden Eisenchenk, Cameron Fortner, Robyn Jaszczak, Lindsay Jenkins, Garrett Johnson, Ally Kemph, Shailey Klein, Brice Miller, Sophie Miller, Stephanie Miller, Austin Montini, Emma Morey, Megan Muchnick, Sadie Murray, Gabrielle Rousseau, Dale Schanuth, Patrick Schanuth, Kamryn Sill, Mallory Tutton, Amanda Villanueva and Bay Walker. We are so grateful for all of these persons and any and all who have been a part of their spiritual journey. Also, starting tomorrow night, Wednesday Night Dinners and programming are back with these three offerings on Wednesday nights for the next five weeks: - 6:35 Contemporary Worship in the Trinity Chapel
- Five Marks of a Methodist - deepen your understanding and practice as a follower of Christ led by Rev. Aaron & Rev. David (Room 232)
- Tai Chi, led by our own Dr. Randy Sherwood; this ancient form of meditation and exercise, as Randy leads it, will be excellent; Room 203/204 (suggested donation of $10 each week per household)
And, who finds it difficult or impossible to understand the Middle East? All of us! Over the next several months we will be having a series of "Conversations" with persons who have experience and knowledge of that part of the world. We are fortunate to begin our "conversations" with Mr. Terry Anderson, the famous American journalist who was captured in 1985 in Lebanon and held there for 6 years. He is now an Adjunct professor of Journalism at UF. This first event will be Sunday, April 19 at 5:00 in room 232. This isn't an attempt to "solve" the Middle East, but rather to gain greater understanding through conversation. |

A Word from Rev. Esther Easter blessings! What a glorious season we're in- continuing to marvel, ponder, and absorb the Resurrection and its implications for us. I hope you'll join us at the 6:35 service in the chapel this Wednesday as we do just that - we'll be looking at Christ the Victor. The following week, for six weeks, we'll start a series titled, 'The Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith' - looking at the parable of the prodigal son. I'm excited about this series, as it's had an impact on my life; I hope you'll come. As always, Coffee Talk for young adults meets after. Thanks to all our staff and volunteers for such a great celebration this past Sunday!
A Word from Rev. Aaron Friends, what a week we had last week! By far it was the most meaningful Holy Week I have ever experienced and I am so grateful for the privilege it was to share it with all of you. Please pray for me this week as I leave to meet with friends and colleagues from around the conference for the second of our Courage to Lead Retreats...perfect timing for a couple days of rest and renewal. I hope you will join Rev. David on Wednesday when he kicks off our study of Dr. Steve Harper's Five Marks of a Methodist. The group will meet from 6:30-8pm in room 232. I am looking forward to joining in next week. Finally, you won't want to miss worship on Sunday - I am so excited that we will be welcoming 28 confirmands into the life of our church! And if that isn't enough I also have the privilege of sharing a very exciting announcement that will benefit each and every one of you...you'll have to come on Sunday and see for yourself! See you then!

Faith Mission
Faith Mission, located at 3701 NE 15th Street, is a collaboration of Trinity, Mt. Pleasant UMC, and the surrounding neighborhood. Many thanks to the 28 Trinity folks who came out to one of the two "Visiting Faith Mission" afternoons recently. We appreciate you taking the time to visit and learn more about what's happening and what's coming. Thanks also to Pastor Essie Merricks (Faith Mission Chaplain), Mount Pleasant UMC volunteers, and Kids Count staff and volunteers for organizing a great Easter Egg Hunt for neighborhood children last Friday.
This week at Faith Mission:
* Meetings will continue with community members and social service providers as we work to develop a better understanding of both the strengths and needs of the neighborhood. Last week, Lashay Anderson (social worker who works near Faith Mission), Tracey Hickmon (of the Black on Black Crime Task Force), and teachers and school administrators shared insightful information for us. * Do you like working with numbers? Researching data? Organizing information? In addition to visiting with residents and meetings with area leaders, churches, and social service providers, Faith Mission will be learning about the needs of the neighborhood through data. There are a variety of sources of information, and we are looking for a volunteer to serve Faith Mission through data research and organization. If you are interested in this important way to help us understand where Faith Mission can make the greatest impact, please email or call Ward (416-3050). * The Kids Count after school program for K-3rd graders is in operation at Faith Mission on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:45 - 5:45p, and Fridays, 1:30 - 4:30p. Kids Count has very helpful UF students who volunteer, but they will be completing their semester in a few weeks so additional volunteers are needed to help in this whole-child oriented program! Please email Bill Hutchinson or call at 372-0038 if you are interested in learning more about this great way to serve.
