Worship: Sundays @ 8:15 am, 9:40 am, 11:00 am | Wednesdays @ 6:35 pm | Fridays @ 7:00 pm
Dear Friends,

First, I want to share with you an important story, but, before I do, I share how excited I am about our Lenten Worship series so far:  The Potter, the Foot Washing, and then this past Sunday, the Seder/Passover (you definitely want to see that on our Web site if you missed it Sunday!  Lenora Rousseau did such an outstanding job, and everyone learned so much), and this Sunday we go with Jesus to the Garden of Gethsemane, and I'll be preaching about prayer.

Now, back to the story - that happened with one of our members, who has given me permission to share it with you because it conveys so clearly what we think happened in many instances as people approached their pledging to our 2015 budget:

Trinity Member calling Laura in our Business office:  "I'm sorry, I was so busy in December I forgot to get my pledge in to Trinity.  And I don't remember exactly what it was."
Laura:  "Last year you gave $1,000 to Operating Budget and $2,400 toward the Mortgage pay off."
Member:  "Oh, good.  Since we've paid off the mortgage, put me down for just $1,000."
Laura:  "Thanks, and I'll be glad to do that, but can I share with you something?"
Member:  "Sure."
Laura: "Our hope was that many of our members would transfer the amount they've been putting toward the mortgage now toward Missions, because we have made a big commitment to support Faith Mission in East Gainesville and other local missions."
Member:  "Oh, great idea.  Put me down for the full $3,400."

If this story strikes a note with your situation, our Finance Committee and Church Council are asking you to prayerfully reconsider your pledge to Trinity for 2015, because truly our commitments to local mission and the care of our 15 year old facilities are both in that category of "possibilities we could imagine" doing once we paid off the mortgage.  Please give this your earnest consideration

As was noted at last night's Finance Committee meeting:  "Once a need is made known to Trinity, Trinity comes through!"  Indeed, February was a good month:
Income   -   $250,858
Expenses - $219, 830

Year to date:
Income  -  $451,777
Expenses - $430,958

Please feel free to ask any questions.  We want to keep you well informed.
God Bless,
Dan

Faith Mission

Faith Mission, located at 3701 NE 15th Street, is a church and neighborhood outreach collaboration. Trinity's Lenten theme of Sharing His Footsteps is also a wonderful theme for the beginning of Faith Mission. As the daily devotionals are reminding us, Sharing His Footsteps means loving like Jesus, caring like Jesus, showing patience like Jesus, and being guided in relationships by Jesus - all so important to any ministry, including Faith Mission.

This week at Faith Mission:

  • Renovations continue, and roof work is completed - an important step. Carpeting in the main building will be installed this week, and new doors will be installed soon.
  • Thanks to Harvey Baxter for finding a home for the old organ. It was donated to a local veterans group as originally the organ was presented to Faith UMC in honor of a young man who lost his life serving in Vietnam.
  • Do you have the gift of hospitality? We are organizing a small group that will do things like prepare special Thank Yous for teachers at Rawlings from time to time.  Please email Ward if you can help in this way. (And thank you to those who've already responded to serve)
  • Rev. Esther is helping Faith Mission organize a prayer team - a group that will lift up the leadership, volunteers, churches, and neighborhood with the Spirit who "sets our hearts on fire, fills us with desire to love, and calls us to serve one another." Would you like to serve the Faith Mission ministry by being a part of this prayer team? Please contact Rev. Esther if you are interested and would like to learn more.
