Philippians 4:7 - "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." This is such a familiar scripture to most of us and we are strengthened and comforted by it in times of testing. Today, I want us to delve just a little bit deeper into and gain even greater understanding about why we should be so encouraged when we think on this Word.
This refers to more than peace with God as mentioned in Romans 5:1. It is a peace which God has and which Christ gives. All Christians have peace with God. By faith you have come out of darkness into the marvelous light, you are no longer an enemy of God's and have passed from death into life. Thus you have peace with God. But you can have peace with God without having the peace of God. Peace with God depends on faith. But the peace of God depends on prayer. The peace of God is that inward tranquility of soul grounded in God's presence, God's promise and God's power. It comes to the child of God who trusts and prays. The peace of God surpasses all power of human reason or comprehension.
Child of God today put everything in God's hands and let His peace rule in your heart.
