Colossians 3:16 - "Let the Word of God dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
The book of Colossians is a letter written to the church at Colosse. Paul writes to express his personal interest in the Colossians and to warn them against reverting to their old vices. He refutes false doctrine and proclaims the truth. He presents a full length portrait of Christ as supreme, sufficient, Son of Man and Son of God.
In our verse for today he encourages all believers to allow the Word of God to saturate us and remain in us as a rich treasure. In all relations in life, we are to act as Christ representatives. His Word must be the standard by which we live, make choices and conduct every aspect of our lives. The appetites and the attitudes of men, though at times compelling cannot dictate how the believer lives. Popular opinion and conventional wisdom will allow and even celebrate many things that the Word of God strictly prohibits. The interesting thing is that when you say yes to the way of the Lord, people who don't know Him will inevitably try to convince you that there is something fundamentally wrong with your conclusion. They will tell you that either your understanding is flawed, your view is narrow or you are just not enlightened. To obey God's Word and to follow Him is a daily choice. The only way that you can obey His Word is to know it. It would be a foolish thing to entrust your future well-being to unbelievers, sound bites from television preachers or catchy phrases that are present in abundance on Facebook. Each of us must spend personal time in the Word of God; reading, meditating, and praying that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened by the Holy Spirit and then waiting for God to reveal His plan for us individually. The Word of the Lord is a treasure. Dig into it and reap it's rewards. Don't allow this treasure to be hidden from you!

Words to Live By Devotionals Available Daily
How would you like to have your devotional delivered to your in-box daily, Monday through Thursday? If you would then your wish is our command. It is imperative for our spiritual health that we focus on God's Word every day. Over the years I have written literally hundreds of devotionals. We are now going to use them daily rather than weekly. You will still receive your newsletter on Friday. But if you would like to add a daily devotional , email me and indicate that you want to be added to the daily.
Whatever you feed gets strong. If you feed your old nature with carnality, the old nature will be the stronger. But if you feed your spirit man on the Word of God, your spirit will be the stronger. Our prayer for you sis that you will hunger and thirst after righteousness. Let the Lord fill you with Himself.

We are truly grateful for every person who helps us make life better for others. In the past two weeks we have purchased 48 book bags and 5 pairs of sneakers due to designated gifts. Thank you! Your gifts mean that there are children who are going back to school feeling better about themselves, and as a result they will behave better and apply themselves to learning because you gave. Because of you, the lives of families are changing for the better.
We are also grateful to our faithful monthly contributors who keep us afloat year after year. We couldn't do it without you!
We are on a mission to touch as many lives as we can with the love of Jesus Christ. For every person who has helped us along the way, we say thank you.
The Lord Himself has promised to reward you.

Know Your Bible
Last week's quiz question was: A word "fitly spoken" is like what of gold set in pictures of silver? Include as part of your answer, one paragraph explaining what it means.
The answer is found in Proverbs 25:11 - "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold set in pictures of silver."
I also asked that a part of the response be a paragraph explaining what it means. The responses were insightful and helpful for daily living. Here are a couple of the explanations that we received;
"
To me this means it's not what you say, but how you say it. A word of encouragement, correction, warning, etc. is best received if given in love and given at the appropriate place and time. There are so many times we say what comes to mind without any regard to the circumstances, and it is not always received well." Lena Whitaker - Bartlett, Illinois
"A word "fitly spoken" would be the right thing said at the right time, in the right
place, to the right person, in the right way and for the right purpose. We need to understand what good we do when our words are accompanied by a caring and pleasant attitude." Carolyn Coleman - Tampa, Florida Congratulations to all correct responders.
