Proverbs 3:25-26 - "Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked when it cometh. For the Lord shall be they confidence, and shall keep they foot from being taken."
The wisdom literature of Israel was unique in that it was the chief storehouse of moral instruction and practical wisdom for God's people. The writings recognized three classes of people who desperately needed wisdom's counsel, the fool, the simple, and the scorner. (see 1:22). The simple are those who are open to good influences, but are also too open to those who influence for evil. Life is simple for them, all they want are simple pleasures and little else interests them. The scorner despises anything that is godly and takes pride in his evil ways. Finally wisdom addresses the fool. These are ignorant persons who are totally confident in their own wisdom. They believe that they have things all figured out without God's help. Wisdom calls to us to follow her into the path of blessing and success. Foolishness calls us to follow her down the path of rebellion and self-fulfillment that ultimately leads to destruction.
Sound wisdom will insure a life full of trust. Anxiety and fear will not be able to attach themselves to the person who makes gaining wisdom a priority because this is a person who trusts God so totally that fear will be unable to trip him up. His confidence is not in himself, but rather in the Lord.
The description of wisdom in Proverbs makes us understand that Jesus embodies the wisdom of God. To yield our lives to Jesus Christ is the ultimate act of wisdom; to be in Him is to be in the wisdom of God.
Power Verse - "For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength." I Corinthians 1:25

The Reading Room
Now that the kids have returned to school, it is time to get down to the serious business of learning. In addition to their school work, why not encourage them to make reading a part of their daily lives. The experts say one way to encourage your child to enjoy reading more is to find out what they are interested in and help them find a book on that topic.
You will love this great children's book by author Derrick Lee Mitchell.
This fun book introduces you to Miyah who is really excited about starting the third grade and Koala, a great surprise from her Dad! Visit The Reading Room on our website to learn more about the author and how you can get the book. Go to: www.vl-ministries.org the Reading Room, Children's section.

Sister 2 Sister
Are you carrying emotional baggage from past hurts? Is there any lingering unforgiveness or bitterness in your heart? Are you struggling to develop and maintain healthy relationships? Could it be due to you? If you answered yes or even maybe to these questions, we need to talk. All of us have been through rough times, and most if not all have had our hearts crushed. The scars are not visible to the naked eye but we are still impacted by those invisible wounds.
Our extreme makeover sisterhood held our first teleconference call on Saturday and it was powerful. We established ground rules, scheduled regular meetings and started on our journey of self discovery. We discussed core values and how and why they are so important to our well-being even though many people never take the time to articulate what theirs are. Values are beliefs or convictions that guide and direct my behavior and support my purpose and vision. They define who I am. Do you know yours? Are they a primary factor in the people that you choose to be in relationship with?
If you are interested in doing the work to discover your true self, living a more confident and productive life, join us on this amazing journey. We will only accept new people in this group until our next meeting on August 28th.
To join email me at victoriousmin@att.net and say I'm Ready!

We love our Bible Quiz! That is what we hear from the participants. The level of participation is so exciting. People literally wait for their newsletter to hit their email box on Friday morning and the first thing that go to is the Bible quiz!
Last week's quiz question was - What is the message of the parable that Jesus told Simon the Pharisee?
The correct response is found in Luke 7:42-43. He who has many debts forgiven, loves the one who forgave him more than he who has few debts forgiven.
Congratulations to the scholars of the week:

Gratitude Journal
The purpose of the gratitude journal is to be a witness and to share with others what we are grateful for! This should never be an empty space. What are you grateful for? Email me 5 things that you are giving God praise for.
I have a special one to share. During my regular mammogram a couple of weeks ago they identified what they called a suspicious mass. I had a breast biopsy done on Monday. The report came back yesterday that it is benign. I am grateful to God for His faithfulness one more time!
Where are the grateful people? Email us at victoriousmin@att.net
