"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools"

When I was growing up my Mother often used  this term, "an educated fool."  As a young girl I was unable to grasp the significance of that phrase, because it just didn't make sense to my very practical and inquiring mind.  After all, to be a fool meant to me that you must be dumb, but in my mind, to be educated meant that you were smart.  These verses of scripture remind me that you can have knowledge, do nothing with it and still miss the boat.

Paul teaches us here that the creation delivers to every man a clear, unmistakable message about God.   The God who created all that we see around us and constantly sustains it, must be a being of awesome power.  As a result, God holds all men responsible for their refusal to acknowledge what He has shown them of Himself in His creation.  Man's prime directive is to glorify God.  To glorify Him is to honor Him, to acknowledge His attributes and to praise Him for His mighty acts and for His excellent greatness.  Failure to give God the glory that He deserves is man' greatest  insult to his Creator.

When people rationalize their sin, rather than repent, they prove how completely foolish they are.  Many today develop their own philosophies about God, the universe and even themselves, rather than believe the Word of God.  Man's search for meaning and purpose  without including God will always lead to empty, meaningless and ultimately hopeless conclusions.

Reflect & Respond - Are you proactive regarding glorifying God with your life and not just your words?  What do you do on a daily basis to honor your Creator?

Power Verse - "So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them."  Luke 8:18

Last week we introduced the idea of a group of women coming together to confront and overcome our relationship issues.  Just since last Friday a group is already taking shape and our preliminary meeting has been scheduled.  I have even come up with a name "Emio" which stands for extreme makeover, inside out.

The purpose of us coming together is to be healed from  past failures, past hurts and past mistakes.  We will discuss core values, how to set healthy boundaries in relationships, the residue of rejection, what forgiveness is and what it is not, overcoming low self-esteem, having a healthy body image and whatever else we need to talk about to get healed and to stay that way.  If you would like to participate, you still have time.

Our first meeting will be via teleconference on Saturday, August 16th at 9:00am.  At that initial meeting we will set our regular meeting schedule, establish ground rules for how we will work together, and learn a little about each other.  Participants are free to say as much or as little about themselves as they choose.

If you are ready to do the work in your own life that will give you the tools that you need to establish and maintain healthy relationships and to once and for all put your past behind, you need to join us.  If you are ready, email me today and simply say, "I'm Ready."  If you don't have this need, but know a woman who does, pass it along!

Know Your Bible

Francine had the following to say about her participation in the weekly Bible quiz:

"I enjoy it. It's gives me an opportunity to learn more. I read around the section where the answer is to understand it better."   Francine Boykin - Palm Coast, FL.

She uses the quiz as an expansion of her study of the Bible.  Awesome, that's the whole idea!

Last week's quiz question was: On which occasion in the Bible does it specifically say that believers sung a hymn?

The correct response is found in Matthew 26:30 - "When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives."  This was done following Jesus and the disciples celebrating Passover.

A correct response must include the answer to the question and the scripture reference.

Closing Thoughts

There has apparently been a fair amount of buzz in recent days regarding the upcoming airing of a new show  entitled Black Jesus on the Cartoon  Network.  The fact that it is scheduled to air on the Cartoon Network speaks volumes right off the bat.  I am not much of a television watcher so I really had not  picked up on it.  Someone forwarded me the link to the trailer this week and I watched it. Every believer anywhere in the world should be repulsed and incensed by this ridiculous portrayal of Jesus.  It is not harmless comedy that uptight moralists just don't get.  It is an affront to our faith and disrespects and blasphemes our Savior.  That is first and foremost.  But on another note, I am also insulted that when Jesus is finally  portrayed as a Black man, it is without reverence or  even a modicum of resemblance to the person of Christ (forget color) but is rather portrayed as  a cursing, common,  clown. So on both levels I am outraged.

Friends, the Word of God warned us that these days would come.  Don't be deceived and don't be lulled into accepting these all out attacks as coincidental.  They are by design.  The real question is not what will the enemy do, we already know that.  We see it every day.  The real question is what will you do in response.  Will you fold your arms, wring your hands and shake your head?  Or will you take a stand and say and show that you will not accept or embrace the disrespect and disregard of your faith.  Every other  group can say and do whatever they choose, yet somehow we have been bullied into believing that we have no choice but to sit quietly by and hope and pray for the best.  We are more afraid of wearing an unflattering label than we are to fail our God.  Today, I urge you, get informed and then take action to show that this garbage will not be dumped on you and yours!

Sincerely,

Prayer Matters

On the first Saturday in every month, the Victorious Life Ministries Intercessors from all over the country convene for a time of Corporate Prayer.  We have met monthly for a little less than 10 years. God has been faithful and has moved mightily in the lives of the people that we pray for as well as our own lives.  How may we pray for you?  To To submit your prayer request, email us at victoriousmin@att.net or call the prayer line at (888) 479-1113 or visit our website at www.vl-ministries.org.  Either way, tomorrow morning we will be lifting you and your need up in prayer.

Each month we produce a prayer calendar.  It is a tool that we use to focus our prayer life on a daily basis and to join our prayers with others.  If you would like to receive a copy, email us and your name will be added to the distribution list.

What is an Intercessor? -
An intercessor is a person who by calling or by nature chooses to be a mediator on behalf of those who cannot intervene for themselves. Intercessors make requests, urge, plead, beg, counsel, discuss, risk, sacrifice, and make war on issues relating to the weaker ones, and thus they have an impact on the final outcomes for those they serve.   (Sandy Warner)

Are you called to be an Intercessor?  Are you saved and committed to living your life for Christ? Are you willing to pray for others, to take prayer seriously, to commit to pray no matter what?  If so, we need you.  We have a team of dedicated Intercessors, but there can never be too many prayers.  If you are interested in becoming a part of the Victorious Life Ministries Intercessory Prayer Team, please email or call today!

If the Lord were to come back today, do you know where you would spend eternity?  If you are not sure, you can be.  Pray this prayer and release your faith -

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, amen.

If you prayed this prayer  in faith, you have passed from death to life, from darkness to light.  Heaven is rejoicing over you.  If you received Christ today email us so that we can add you to our prayer list.

Gratitude Journal

Just few weeks ago we asked people to start keeping a Gratitude Journal.  In the daily routine of our busy and stressful lives, it is easy to forget how blessed we really are.  We asked you guys to share the first 5 reasons that you are grateful and then to add at least one reason each day to your list.

The response has been wonderful, exciting and encouraging.  We are receiving entries from all over the country.  Today our grateful contributor is Evangelist Sandi Newsome of Wilson, North Carolina.  Sandi is grateful that:

1 He saved me
2He delivered me and my husband from a world of drugs
3 He saved my son and granddaughter
4 that He loves me no matter what I do.
5 that He healed my broken heart.

Sandi is saved, loved,  her family is saved, she is healed and delivered.  Don't you love that?

What are you grateful for? Share your gratitude with others.  You just may encourage someone to hold on, to keep trusting and believing God.

If you have started your journal, remember to add to it daily!

Dr. Nina Says......

Potassium is an essential mineral that plays a critical role in regulating fluid and electrolyte balance in the body. It's also needed for optimal bone health and adequate functioning of the heart, skeletal muscles, and nervous system. When it comes to potassium-rich foods, bananas are commonly touted but there are many other valuable food sources of potassium. Here are nine that can really help you meet the recommended 4,700 milligrams (mg) of potassium each day

1. White Potatoes
2. Spinach
3. Dried Apricots
4. Avocado
5. Yogurt
6. Sweet Potatoes
7. Cantaloupe

8. Mushrooms
9. Salmon

Although bananas are a nutritious and convenient source of potassium, it's not a good idea to consume them in very large quantities as they house high amounts of natural sugar. For optimal functioning of your body and overall good health make an effort to incorporate these nine foods and other potassium-rich foods into your everyday diet.

The Reading Room
Bookstore

Over the next several weeks we will share with you at least 10 benefits of reading.

Benefit #1 - Mental Stimulation
Studies have shown that staying mentally stimulated can slow the progress of (or possibly even prevent) Alzheimer's and Dementia, since keeping your brain active and engaged prevents it from losing power. Just like any other muscle in the body, the brain requires exercise to keep it strong and healthy, so the phrase "use it or lose it" is particularly apt when it comes to your mind. Doing puzzles and playing games such as chess have also been found to be helpful with cognitive stimulation.

The featured book for today is written by Lee M. Sapp.  It is a work of fiction entitled Pastor June and the Coveters.  The plot is as follows:
Pastor June's life is interrupted once again when Detective Grimes, her ex fiancé and ex police partner, receives a ransom call about the kidnapping of his daughters. His youngest daughter, Cady was last seen with Jackson Bonnen III, the son of a wealthy accounting firm owner in South Beach, and Cady's close friend, a social misfit nicknamed Two Touch. Both of these young men were desperately in need of a pay day and they also happened to be two of very few people who knew about the wealth of Detective Grimes' family.

If you enjoy mystery, drama and romance all from a Christian perspective, you need to get the Pastor June books.  They are available at www.amazon.com or at her website www.leesapp.com/order
