Isaiah 51: 1-3

"Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness,
You who seek the Lord:
Look to the rock from which you were hewn,
And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug.
2 Look to Abraham your father,
And to Sarah who bore you;
For I called him alone,
And blessed him and increased him."
3 For the Lord will comfort Zion,
He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of the Lord;
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

When a heart is turned to God, seeking Him, coming to know Him and becoming like Him is all a part of our spiritual growth.  Each of us  must be changed according to His standards.  Seeking God means that we no longer look for short-cuts and compromises, but that we are committed to living our lives according to His purpose and His plan.  And, even when we blow it, and we all do, we do not make excuses to justify it, rather we repent and ask our Father for mercy.   In truth to pursue God is to pursue righteousness, to acquire His characteristics.  People seek God for all kinds of reasons, and many are disappointed, because ultimately what they want is for God to conform to their will instead of them being conformed to His will.

I read something the other day that I thought was so insightful that I want to share it here.  I am not sure who wrote it.  It was in a sort of nondescript article , but the author wrote, "If God seems unresponsive, is it possible that it's actually we who are unresponsive to seeking His ways rather than our own?"  Have you ever stopped to think that God has not done what you have asked Him to do because to say yes would be to your detriment?  Here is what I know, radical obedience leads to radical blessing!

Pursuing God means that we are ready and willing to allow Him to lead and to transform us into who He wants us to be, not the other way around.

Whether you're constantly on the go or just looking to spice up your diet, smoothies generally make great meal replacements. However, if you have diabetes, chronically elevated blood glucose (sugar) levels, or are just trying to control your overall intake of simple carbohydrates (carbs), it's important to choose your ingredients carefully to ensure that your smoothies aren't exceptionally high in sugar.

Blueberry Banana-Nut Oatmeal Smoothie

*1/2 medium banana, peeled, frozen
*1/2 cup of frozen unsweetened blueberries
*1/2 cup of oatmeal (rolled or quick-cooking oats), precooked
*1/4 cup of almonds, unsalted

Word of the Week

Strive
Greek Word Pronunciation: ah-go-NID-zo-mai
Key Verse: "I have fought the good fight ..." -- 2 Timothy 4:7

Agonizomai appears only seven times in the New Testament. In 1 Corinthians 9:25, it is used in competing in public games. In John 18:36, it is to fight or engage in conflict. More often, it is used metaphorically to "contend with perseverance." The Lord Jesus Christ issued a command in Luke 13:24 to strive to enter by the narrow door. According to Ralph Earle, "the struggle for the kingdom of heaven allows no indolence, indecision or relaxation; the door is so narrow, we cannot take our worldliness with us, thus the struggle." In 1 Timothy 6:12, Paul issues a command to Timothy to fight the good fight of faith. In Colossians 4:12, Epaphras was always laboring in his prayers. In Colossians 1:29, Paul is constantly striving according to God's power for others' salvation. Paul throws in everything and sacrifices himself for the salvation of the people of God.

What are you "striving" for?  Is it to live a life that pleases God, to see sinners saved, to witness for Him?

Live A Happier Life
In every life there are struggles and occurrences that we wish were different.  But we still have much to be grateful for every day that we are alive and we must choose to focus on all that is right and not on what is wrong!  Did you know that being happy is a choice?  In this section we give you suggestions for managing your choice to be happy.  Today's suggestion is to start a gratefulness journal.  It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but use it to write down 5 things that you are grateful for today.  Add something at least one thing to it each day.  When you are tempted to feel down and blah and like nothing is going right, visit your gratefulness journal.

I am starting mine today with you.  If you are participating in this, email me your list.  We will publish them next week, but won't use any names.  Come on, let's remind folk who can't think of anything of how blessed we are.

Email your first five to victoriousmin@att.net

Have you received Christ as your personal Savior.  If you have not, today can be the best day of the rest of your life.  All you need is faith in God and pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, amen.

If you prayed this prayer  in faith, you have passed from death to life, from darkness to light.  Heaven is rejoicing over you.  If you received Christ today email us so that we can add you to our prayer list.

Remember, prayer changes everything!

Why not jump start your reading with a great Christian fiction.  Today we are recommending -

The Plot

Deborah is a mighty woman of God, traveling around the world-healing others and ministering in the power of God. But even in doing so she has a severe problem that's not only threatening her mentality-it's also threatening her ministry. Can she find it within herself to come clean about her dark and secretive past and allow Christ to completely heal her wounds, or will the enemy finally conquer her from within?
