In Numbers 27: 1-6 you will find the story of a man whose name was Zelophehad.  The thing that distinguished him is that he had 5 daughters and no sons.  When he died, because he had no sons, he had no one to inherit his portion of the land that was being divided up among all the other families in his tribe.  Five sisters with no father and no husbands to stand for them, to speak for them decided that together they could and would speak for themselves.  We all know that any five women, blood sisters or not,  have many differences among them. Yet in this case,  for their common good, they were able to put their differences aside and work in unison so that they all would benefit. I am certain that they had different personalities, different preferences, perhaps different goals and aspirations.  They perhaps were not uniform, but  they were unified!    I love this story because they could have taken many different paths, but they came together, refusing to accept the status quo.  They knew the law, they realized that women were not supposed to inherit land,   they knew that what they wanted  had never been done before, yet they took their cause to Moses the leader and Moses took their cause to God.  When Moses sought God on behalf of these sisters, God answered and said, "The daughters of Zelophehad speak what is right; you shall surely give them a possession of inheritance among their father's brothers, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them."  I can't help but rejoice every time I read this.  These women came together, worked together for a common goal and they all were blessed as a result of it.  Can't you see what sisterhood can accomplish if we put aside our own agendas,  roll up our sleeves and purpose in our hearts that we will bless each other?

I long to connect with some sisters who care more about God's agenda than their own, who understand that we don't have to look just alike or think just alike to work together for the Kingdom!  I am extending my hand, come on sisterhood power, activate.   My sisterhood lessons learned from the daughters are:

#1 refuse to accept what has always been done simply because it has always been done

#2  challenge unrighteousness

#3 walk in love, deliberately blessing others, and

#4 purpose in your heart to bring glory to God.

Sisterhood power, activate!  Greatness is at your fingertips!

IT'S WORKING
It's Working

Romans 8:28 is a familiar scripture, but today, receive it and believe it all over again - "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

The Reading Room
J.L. Moore
Does the Great Commission include outreach to Jehovah's Witnesses? Absolutely! The question is: "How should we approach such a daunting task?" In Conversations Worth Having, J. L. Moore discusses how Christians can lovingly engage Jehovah's Witnesses based on a time-tested method of biblical evangelism. While providing a biblical analysis of the history, beliefs, and practices of the Watchtower Society, he also includes examples from his own conversations with the same Witness for over a year. After reading this book, you will be better prepared to share true biblical teaching with the Witnesses in your life through participating in conversations worth having.

Prayer Matters

Every week you have two opportunities to participate in the ministry of prayer.  On Monday evening from 7:00 to 7:30pm and on Wednesday mornings from 6:30 to 7:00pm, the Victorious Life Ministries, Victory in Prayer calls take place.  The format is simple; people call in and I lead us in intercessory prayer.  There is no sermonizing, no testifying, and no unnecessary chatting.  We simply come together to pray.

We have witnessed God move in miraculous ways through prayer.  We have witnessed successful organ transplants, employment opportunities opened, foreclosures halted, marriages saved, cancers healed, relationships restored and more.  There is power in prayer.  You are invited to join us!  Call in and your life will be blessed.  Call 712 432 3066; access code 930692.

If you are unable to join either of these calls, we still want to include you in our prayers.  You may email your prayer request to [email protected] or call (888) 479 1113 or via the website at www.vl-ministries.org

If you would like to receive our monthly prayer calendar, email us to have your name added to the distribution list.

If you have never received the Lord Jesus as your Savior, today is the perfect day to be saved.  Pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, amen.

If you received Christ today, email us and let us know.  We want to pray with and for you!  Heaven is rejoicing.

Remember, prayer changes everything!

The Empowered              Speaker
Christy Demetrakis

Recently I made a visit to the eye doctor.  I walked in and was warmly greeted, as usual.  As I walked to the waiting area, I noticed a food magazine laying on a chair.  I sat down, picked up the magazine and looked at the cover... The Food Network magazine.  I said to the nurses behind the counter "I didn't know this magazine existed."

I love simple cooking magazines.  Every year for my birthday, my mother in law renews my subscription to Taste of Home magazine.  She always says "I feel like I'm not getting you anything of value.  Why do you want this every year?"  To me, the subscription is valuable.  It allows me to try new recipes for my family.  It breaks the monotony of having the same meals for dinner week after week.  What seems insignificant to my mother in law is very significant to me.

I found some great recipes in The Food Network magazine.  I cut out the recipes I liked.  This particular issue even had 12 months of birthday cake recipes that I've mailed to my mother who loves to bake.  I didn't know this magazine existed, but now that I know, I intend to purchase a subscription.

What does all of this have to do with you?  I want to know what you have to offer that would benefit someone else.  What are the gifts and talents  you possess that nobody knows exists because you haven't shared them?  Even if it seems insignificant to you, the world needs what you have to offer.  That's the thing about a gift.  A thoughtful person strives to give a gift the recipient will like or can use.  The best gift you can give is the gift of yourself.  Don't underestimate what you have to offer.

Word of the Week

Every one of us has had some things happen that hurt us deeply.  I have thought about this a lot this week and so our word of the week is Forgive!  In order for us to move forward and to accomplish all that God intends for our lives, we must be able to let go of hurts and offenses.  That is not to say that they are not real, that our suffering is not legitimate, but if we don't let go so that we can move on, we are forever stuck in that place with the pain.

The Greek word for forgive is - charizomai.  It means to show favor, give freely, ("favor that cancels") is used of God giving His grace to pardon. This is freely done and therefore not based on any merit of the one receiving forgiveness. Some of us are waiting for the person who hurt us to acknowledge that they did us wrong, to cry and sob and plead for our forgiveness.  The truth is that may never happen.  Will you withhold forgiveness because they won't apologize?  If so, you are the one who is stuck.  I find that frequently the people who can treat others the worse have no sense of the devastation that they leave behind and somehow they justify their actions in their own minds.  They have rationalized what they did to you and are perfectly alright with their decision.  So if you are waiting for them you may have a very long wait.    This word tells us that it is freely given, and has nothing whatsoever to do with merit. Choose today to set yourself free by freely releasing everyone who has ever hurt you.  When you do you will feel a tremendous weight lift from your shoulders, scales will fall from your eyes and the world will become a warmer and much more wonderful place for you.

To Your Good Health

Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed, which is also known as linseed, has been cultivated for more than 7000 years. It is very high in essential fatty acids, which work to protect cell membrane integrity. EFAs must be included in our diet for good health, as they are not manufactured by our body.  Most Americans do not get enough of these in their diet. Omega 3 fatty acids are among the EFAs in flaxseeds.

Flaxseed oil, which is obtained by pressing flaxseeds, has been beneficial in treating a wife range of diseases, including heart disease, autoimmune disease, many skin disorders and also nervous system diseases, including Parkinson's disease. It seems to generally support the health of multiple body systems, including strengthening hair and nails.

Consider taking 2 tablespoons of flaxseed oil daily, as a part of your healthy lifestyle.

God bless !

Dr. Ed James
