Job 33:4
The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

I must confess that I find Facebook to be fascinating for many reasons. One of the things that I find most interesting is that it gives you a glimpse into the heart, mind and character of the users.  People post things that reveal a lot about themselves, including what they care about, setting people straight when they are ticked off  and of course there are the messages to the people that they love.  Which brings me to what I want to talk about today.  I frequently see posts from women saying things like "I love me some me,"  or "me and mine are doing fine" or "if I don't love me, whose supposed to?"  These words sound very strong , liberated and with it! They come from a place that wants the reader to believe that the writer doesn't need anyone, even if she has loved and lost, she is back on top of her game.  Having loved and lost, I can personally relate to life falling apart and needing to re-group.  But I also understand the lies that we tell ourselves to mask the pain, the false courage that we display to fake how strong we are and the tears at night when none of our Facebook friends are around!    Today I just want to speak directly to a broken-hearted woman who is reeling from rejection, devastated by disappointment and humbled by your humiliation.  You will live and not die!  The reason that I can say that with so much certainty is because of the Word of God.  The above referenced scripture makes it clear, it is God who formed you in your mother's womb, it is God who kept you and brought you through everything that you have been through and it is God that is keeping you right now.  Your life and well-being was never dependent upon the person who has hurt you, it was always in God's hands.  So rather than spending your time pretending to have it all together, cry out to God from your broken place, and I am a living witness that He will heal you everywhere you hurt.  For those of us who have walked in your shoes, your boasting is hollow and we feel your pain.  Breathe my sister, the breath of God is giving you life!

Live A Happier Life!

Write Three Things You Love About Yourself

Do you have an inner critic that constantly reminds you that your nose is too big or your hips are too wide or your chest is too flat?  Think of three wonderful things that you love about yourself and write them on a card.  They don't have to be your physical attributes; they could include things like "I love my compassionate nature," or I love the fact that I have a great sense of humor."  Tape the card to your mirror, refrigerator, or computer or other places where you can frequently be reminded of the gifts that are uniquely yours.

Somewhere along the course of your life you learned this self critical behavior.  Be deliberate about reversing the damage that has been done.  You are so much more than what you look like &/or the sum of your body parts.

By presidential diarist, newspaper publisher and author Janis F. Kearney. This new biographical memoir chronicles the life and memories of 107-year old TJ Kearney, who died just months before the release of the book, and include poignant essays by 15 of his 19 children.  She takes us through T.J.'s evolution into his decades long roles as community leader and irreplaceable patriarch of his large sharecropping family - a testament to the power of dreams, prayer and family love.

There are just times when people go above and beyond to be a blessing and they make such a huge difference.  In this ministry, there are many of those people and in the coming editions, we will be more diligent to recognize them.  Today we want to say a huge thank you to two very special women who give an just keep on giving in so many ways.

Mrs. Doris Wise
We are now in the process of collecting money, shoes and school supplies for our Back to School Mega Jam in August.  Doris developed the "Stay At Home Tea" fundraiser project, designed and printed the invitations, bought the coffee and tea and put it all together so that all we had to do was drop the invitations in the mail.  This is just the latest  thing that she has done for the ministry.  The ways that she helps us are too numerous to count.  and....

Evangelist Barbara Smith

We supply bras to the inmates of the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton, Pennsylvania.  We became aware of this need through Minister Sandi Newsome,  who previously lived in the area, but now resides in North Carolina.  Evangelist Smith has supported this initiative along with the Traveling Shoes outreach in ways that we can't even describe.  Two days ago we received a box from her with 50 bras to be sent to the prison.  Our goal is to send 50 every three months and she single-handedly gave us what we needed to get the job done.

We are so grateful to these two "angels" who continue to give and they exemplify what making lie better for others looks like in the flesh.

New Birth

I understand if some people are weary of me asking every week, have you been born again.  I do get it, yet I don't have a choice.  I am instructed by the Lord to put it out there, week after week.  There are those who need to be reminded that they will spend eternity somewhere.  The where depends on their answer to the question, have you received Christ?

If you have never asked the Lord Jesus to come into our heart, today is a good day to be born again.  Pray this prayer by faith, and you will pass from death to life-

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, amen.

If you prayed this prayer and received Christ, heaven is rejoicing and we are too.  Please let us know so that we can add you to our prayer list!

Know Your Bible
Your Bible quiz question for April 25th was What did John do with the little book he took from the angel?

The correct response is found in Revelation 10:9 -  "So I went to the Angel and told him to give me the small scroll. "Yes, take it and eat it." he said it will be sweet as honey in your mouth, but it will turn sour in your stomach.

Today's question:  5/2/14

After the Babylonian exile, the Jews sought wealth and possessions for themselves. What should they have been doing?

Thanks for keeping the Bible quiz going.  We need the Word!

Prayer Matters

Lisa Ivy, VLM Prayer Network Director
We have a team of Intercessors who pray for this ministry and pray for you every day.  Yes, we believe that prayer changes things, but also that it changes people and situations.  Twice each week, you have the opportunity to join us as we pray publicly.  Every Monday evening from 7:00 to 7:30pm and Wednesday morning from 6:30 to 7:00am est the Victory in Prayer conference call is open.  During this time I lead the participants in intercessory prayer as we join together, believing God for victory in every situation.  Join us!  At either of both of the referenced times, call (712) 432 3066; access code 930692.   If  you are unable to join us, but would like for us to pray for you send your prayer request via email to: [email protected] or call (888) 479 1113, or use our website at www.vl-ministries.org.  We are here to believe God with and for you.

Now, those of you who know me are fully aware that I'm not an advocate for eating breakfast. BUT, if you must, here's a guiltless homemade treat that's naturally dairy-free, relatively low in carbs, and packed full of #protein - Perfect Peanut Butter and Banana Protein Muffins. At a little over 100 calories a pop, these muffins are indeed my new favorite dessert;-)

What You Need:

-2 tablespoons of high-quality peanut butter
-1 medium banana (mashed)
-1/4 cup of oatmeal (uncooked)
-1 whole egg
-1/2 cup of egg whites
-1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
-1 teaspoon of baking powder
-Dried banana chips (optional)

How To Prepare:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl. Place muffin liners in six holders of a muffin tray and then spray a light coat of a nonstick cooking spray. Evenly disperse all of the mixture into the muffin liners (Optional: Top each uncooked muffin with a few dried banana chips). Place the tray in the center rack of the oven and allow the muffins to cook for about 12-15 minutes.

This delicious recipe by Celsius.com makes 6 servings containing 3.8 grams of fat, 8 grams of carbs, and 10.3 grams of protein at only 106 calories each. Enjoy!
