Isaiah 43:2 - "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flames scorch you."  When I read this I want to start a club, Overcomers Are Us!!!

I just want to mention two things from this scripture, even though there are many that could be gleaned.  First of all dear believer, you will go through.  It is not a question of if, it is a matter of when.  There will be times that are hard, challenging, and so  painful that it will  feel as though you will never get over it.  But the Prophet  Isaiah gives  us this blessed assurance from God, that even in those really tough  times, you will overcome.  Waters, may represent those times when keeping your balance and holding onto your promise is extremely difficult. There are times when things happen and you just don't see them coming.  You are caught completely off guard and don't know what in the world to do.  Walking on water is not easy, but we have proof in the Word of God, it is possible. The Lord will hold you up.   When there is a lot of rain,  a river can overflow its banks and wash away everything in its path.  We have seen on television, the devastation that takes place when the Mississippi River overflows.  God promises us that He will hold back the catastrophic overflow of trouble in your life.  He will not allow trouble to destroy you.  Even though it may be raining in your life, God controls the rain.  He will not allow the rivers to overflow and wash everything away .  Even though the heat gets turned up and we experience extreme pressure, God's promise is still good.  In those times when you are feeling the heat and smelling the smoke, God has promised the fire will be unable to burn you.

Waters, rivers and fire must all bow to Word of our God!

Know Your Bible

We celebrate all of you who take the time to respond to the weekly Bible quiz.  It shows that you have a real interest in learning the Word of God.  Every question answered represents an expansion of your knowledge.  Keep going.  You guys ROCK!

The quiz question for Friday, April 4th was:

When Jesus told his disciples to beware of the "leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees" to what was he referring?

The correct response is found in Matthew 16:5-12- He was referring to their heretical doctrine. Their doctrine was founded primarily on two false principles: preaching a counterfeit salvation by adding works to faith, and debasing the authority of Scripture by subordinating it to the words of fallible men.

This week's scholars are:

Bible quiz 4/11/14:

A correct response must include not only the answer to the question, but the book, chapter and verse(s) where it is found!

Word of the Week

Learning and growing in knowledge are a part of the Christian experience. In this "new" section of your newsletter, we will delve into what certain words really mean, and how they can impact our lives.

I don't normally watch any award shows, not because there is anything inherently wrong with them, but personally they just don't interest me. But for some reason I felt compelled to watch a portion of the Celebration of Gospel last Sunday night.  I think that I was nudged by all the comments that kept popping up on Facebook.  My experience while watching was very different from many others.  In fact so different that I felt led to write this article today.  The word of the week is discernment.

The two main Greek words translated as "discernment" are anakrino, meaning to examine or judge closely, and diakrino, to separate out, to investigate, to examine.

In Christianity, to discern is to...
[i]dentify the true nature of a spirit, doctrine, practice, or group; distinguish truth from error,  the divine from the human and the demonic.

As I sat and watched as much as I could of the show, I was amazed, and not in a good way by what happened on that stage.  I pondered how many others who were watching were discerning the difference between worship and entertainment.  In the event that you are interested in accurately articulating the difference, here goes:

Worship - is to honor God with extravagant love and extreme submission

Entertainment - is being provided with amusement or enjoyment.

Each of us must decide for ourselves where we stand.  Are we moved by celebrity, glamour and talent or do we always reverence God because we are true worshipers.

John 4:23 - "But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him."

Have you received Christ as your personal savior?  If not, today is the perfect day to get it right.  Pray this simple prayer in faith and your life will never be the same-

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, amen.

If you accepted Christ today, email us and let us know.  We want to pray with and for you and encourage you in your walk with the Lord!

Sincerely,

To Your Good Health

 Chia Seeds
Chia seeds were a staple food for the Aztecs and Incas in South America, long before the Spanish explorers arrived, probably dating back to about 3500 BC. They were recognized among these ancient cultures for their ability to greatly improve energy and stamina.

Eating chia delivers maximum nutrients with minimum calories .
For example, chia seeds actually contain more omega 3 fats than salmon, and they are also high in omega 6 fats. These essential fats cannot be manufactured by our bodies, and therefore must be obtained from our diets. They help us to build new cells and regulate many body processes.

Chia seeds are loaded with fiber, which helps digestion and weight loss. By absorbing up to 12 times its weight, this helps to curb your appetite.

Chia seeds have lots of antioxidants , which may retard aging, by aiding your bodies' natural healing processes. They also have plenty of calcium, helping to prevent osteoporosis.

Consider, making organic chia a part of your everyday diet !

We absolutely love to hear from our friends who are a part of the Victorious Life Ministries Network.   When someone takes the time to write us a letter, to call or email, we consider that a tremendous blessing.  It bears witness that God is moving and we will always share when that happens.

The following is a letter that we received this week.  Help us praise God for this precious friend and continue to pray blessings on this entire family!

Dear Lisa and Faye,

I would like to thank you so much for the prayer line on Wednesday morning.  You have continue to pray for all my families, and also our elder mothers, Margaret, Pauline, and Martha.  Prayer works.  One of the family members has gone into remission from stage 4 breast cancer.  Thank you God!  Please pray for my grandsons, that doors will open for them to find jobs.  Also pray that we all continue to seek a closer relationship with God and stop getting discouraged, wanting to give up.  And please pray for me, for energy, strength and wisdom so that I can continue to try to bring encouragement   to the  family.

Every year when God blesses me, I try to bless an outreach ministry.  This year I will be donating a monthly check to Victorious Life Ministries, because of the outreach work that you do.

Sister J.B. - Delaware

We are thanking God for this Sister who faithfully prays for her family.  We are believing God with and for her prayers to be answered.
