Matthew 6:21 - "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

In the last few days this one verse has walked around in my heart and in fact has set up residence.  The question keeps ringing, what do you treasure?  The Greek word used in Matthew 6:21 for "treasure" is the word thēsauros, and it is a word that means: "the place in which good and precious things are collected and laid up, a casket, coffer, or other receptacle, in which valuables are kept."   So the questions becomes, where is the place or what is the thing that receives the most of my attention?  Have you stopped and thought about that?  In other words, the time that we devote to any one thing gives a clear indication of how much we value that thing!  I am so convicted and I hope that you are too.  This is the bottom line; do you spend more time on Facebook than in reading the Word of God?  Are we more well-versed in the  dialog of Scandal or Real Housewives of wherever than we are in the Bible?  Does your computer, or smartphone or tablet  demand more of your attention on a daily basis than your spouse, children, or parents?

Time is one of the greatest valuables that any of us has.  How are you spending it?   Your check register or bank statement will tell you how you spend your money.  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you your time register to evaluate how it is being spent.

Where is your treasure?

Reflect & Respond - If your priorities have been out of order, what will you do differently?  Do you have a designated time and place to spend time with the Lord everyday?

How many of us have more than we will ever wear out in our closets?   Most of us!  So according to the Simple Dollar you have some money in those closets.  They say -
Clean out your closet!  Go through your closets and try to get rid of some of the stuff in there. You can have a yard sale with it, take it to a consignment shop, or even donate it for the tax deduction - all of which turns old stuff you don't want to use any more into money in your pocket.  Not only that, it's often a psychological load off your mind to clean out those closets.

Did You Know?????

In 2009-10 the national graduation rate for Black male students was 52%. The graduation rate for White, non-Latino males was 78%. This is the first year that more than half of the nation's Black males in 9th grade graduated with regular diplomas four years later. The national Black/White male graduation gap, however, only decreased by 3 percentage points over nearly the last decade to 26 percentage points.

On average, states with low graduation rates for Black male students (New York, Nebraska, South Carolina, Delaware, Illinois, Florida) tend to have concentrations of those students in under-resourced districts (New York City, Charleston, Duval County, FL and Chicago) where both Black and White male students perform poorly. Many states like Arizona, Vermont and Oklahoma with above average Black male graduation rates also have smaller than average gaps between the graduation rates of Black male and White, non-Latino males.

Now that you know, what will you do?

Have You Been Born Again?
This is the question that each of us must answer for ourselves.  I am compelled to ask it each week.  Do you know the Lord as your personal Savior?  If not, you can today.  Pray this simple prayer and receive eternal life now -

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In your name, amen.

If you prayed this prayer by faith and received Christ today, email us and let us know.  We want to pray for you that God will guide your every step.  Heaven is rejoicing and we are too!

Have you ever joined us for a Victory in Prayer conference call?  If not you are missing a great opportunity to join with other believers from various states around the country as we intercede for the needs of others.  Each week we receive scores of prayer requests.  Our team of Intercessors pray daily for each one.  But then on Monday evening from 7:00 to 7:30pm and again on Wednesday morning from 6:30 to 7:00am we open the prayer line.  It is a time of focused intercession.   We have seen God move in miraculous ways as we have consistently prayed and believed.  Join us  for either or both of these times of prayer by calling (712) 432 3066; conference code 930692.  You will be blessed!

Today's focus - praying for teens to make wise choices.  The daily prayer focus is taken from the Victorious Life Ministries monthly prayer calendar.  Would you like to have your own copy to pray along with us every day?  If so, email us at victoriousmin@att.net to be added to the distribution list.

How may we pray for you?  You may submit your prayer request by email or through the website at www.vl-ministries.org or by calling 1 888 479 1113.  Remember, prayer changes everything.

We are frequently called upon to provide help to those in need.  The help that we offer takes may forms; sometimes it's prayer, or money or shoes.  When we are asked for help, we do whatever we can to respond to the need.

A few weeks ago we provided toiletries for the local farm workers who don't have the resources to purchase these items for themselves.  We gladly emptied our coffers for them.  However today, we are fully stocked again and ready to provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo and more to those who need it.  We owe a huge thank you to Tide, Delta, Omega Chapter of the AKA's.  These wonderful women donated a barrel full of these items for us to distribute and we say "thank you" on behalf of all those who will be the beneficiaries of your generosity!  Many blessings to each of you!
