More often than I care to admit, I find myself experiencing feelings of unrest.  Sometimes, daily I have to fight off anxiety, frustration, and  puzzlement because I have questions that I don't have the answer to.  I have been saved more than half my life and yet these "feelings" still persist!  But God has helped  me over the years.  I can remember times where I would be completely undone.  I would snap at other people because of what I was feeling, even though they had nothing to do with it.  I would toss and turn and wake up throughout the night with feelings of fear and downright panic.  Even though there are times when the feelings still come. the Lord has taught me to stand, pray, believe and trust.

Isaiah 40:1 - "Comfort, comfort my people,     says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,     and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed,     that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord's hand     double for all her sins."

This verse assures every believer that God is not unaware nor is He unconcerned about what you are going through.  He instructs His prophets to tell His people that their suffering is over, their sins are forgiven.  God has a good plan for great blessing for Israel in the future and His plan for you and for me is the same.  Just as He will never permanently cast Israel away, He will not leave us in difficult circumstances, in despair, despondent or defeated.  Be comforted my Sister & my Brother.  The promises of God stand sure.  The Lord knows those that are His and He will bring you out.  It may take longer than you think is necessary, but keep trusting, keep believing and keep expecting.  Be comforted in Him and the immutability of His Word!

Hymn History

The great hymns of the church have waned in popularity in many of today's worship experiences.  Many of us are moved by the beat rather than ushered into worship because of the message.  But we want to invite you in this segment to begin to reflect on the enduring quality of hymns and their timeless message to believers of all generations.
As we approach the first Sunday in March, when many of us will participate in Communion, let's be reminded of the hymn There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood, written by William Cowper the English poet and hymn writer. William Cowper (pronounced "Cooper" by the English) was born in Great Berkhamstead, Hertfordshire, England, on November 15, 1731. He was privileged to be born into the home of an English clergyman while his mother was from a prominent family of English royalty. In preparation for his life's work, he was educated in private schools as a small child and at Westminster School, earning a degree in law. With that degree he later passed his bar examination and was licensed to practice as a solicitor in the lower courts of the English justice system.

In spite of his intellectual achievements, William Cowper was physically frail and emotionally sensitive throughout his childhood. One of the traumatic experiences that contributed to his emotional instability was the death of his mother when he was only six years old. Unable to properly deal with this grief that he experienced as a small child, it stayed with him throughout his life. He never stopped grieving for his mother. Even though he passed his law examination and was licensed as a lawyer, the very prospect of appearing before the bar for his final examination frightened him to the extent that he had a mental breakdown from which he never recovered. As a result, he never practiced law, but preferred the study and writing of literature. Added to the anxiety of his bar examination was an unhappy love affair that resulted in an unsuccessful suicide attempt. He was, therefore placed in an insane asylum for a period of eighteen months.  While confined in the asylum and suffering from prolonged periods of deep depression he would spend much of his time in reading the Scriptures. Remembering his spiritual upbringing as a child and his concern for the eternal destiny of his soul, he struggled with the question of his salvation and peace with God. One day, while reading the Book of Romans, he was confronted with the words of the Apostle Paul who said:  "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God set forth to be a propitiation (satisfaction) through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God" --Romans 3:23-25 While admitting his need of personal redemption and the sufficiency that is in the shed blood of Jesus our great Savior, being convicted by the Holy Spirit, William Cowper realized a personal relationship with Christ and a sense of forgiveness of sin. He, therefore, was gloriously converted at the age of thirty-three years old in 1764.

While sitting alone one day at his desk in his little house, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and with the words of the prophet Zechariah (13:1) fresh in his mind, he began to pen the words to this timeless hymn.

You were created in Love. By Love. For Love. God is Love...
The affirmation that you have been seeking can only be given by one person: God. It can only be accepted one way, by receiving the Love that He has been offering you. He wants you to see yourself through His eyes. Eyes of Love.
Sandra Felecia shares a captivating story of her journey to self-love. Her compelling testimony will provoke you to embrace life's challenges as orchestrated situations designed by God to bring Him glory! This powerful revelation will release you to forgive yourself and others from the strongholds that have hindered you from Loving You.
The Affirmation of Me gives readers tangible reasons to have hope in the face of death and pain. Sandra Felecia effectively teaches readers how to appreciate the good that can come as a result of tragedies, especially given the fact that death is inevitable. Being able to identify the benefits of a negative event is a catharsis for healing.

Still..........

Dear Lord Jesus,

I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead.  I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will.

In your name, amen.

If you received Christ today, call or email us and let us know.  We want to pray for you and trust God with you that He will order your steps and direct your path.  He has a wonderful plan for your life!

Farm Workers Luau
Hastings, Florida

On Sunday, February 23rd, a team from Victorious Life Ministries were blessed to participate in serving a group of the local farm workers in Hastings, Florida.  These men & women live in abject poverty and quite frankly could easily be forgotten.  But Malea Guiriba and the Pie In the Sky organization won't allow that to happen.  They work tirelessly to make life better for these folks.  We are so thankful to be allowed to take a small part in bringing a little laughter and hope to their lives.

These pictures give you a glimpse into the festivities.

We received this email following Sunday's event:

Ms. Marva...  thank you and your team at Victorious Life for your time and donations to make the Luau a raving success!  The farm workers were so very appreciative of all their surprises!  Your extra touch of the personal toiletries was wonderful!

Please send my personal thank you to all the good people who joined in with you.  AND... check out the Facebook page at Pie in the Sky Growing Hope in Hastings for pictures to be posted soon.

Meet the Board

Sister Thea Smith

The Lord has built a great team to do the work that He has assigned to Victorious Life Ministries.  Last week we introduced you to our newest Board Member, Erica B. Samuels.

Today,  meet  another integral part of the team.  In the coming weeks we will tell you a little bit about each of the people that God is using to make a difference around the world. Today, Sister Thea Smith shares her thoughts about her involvement and role in the ministry:

My name is Thea Smith and I am on the Advisory Board of Victorious Life Ministries as Director Activities and Projects.  It has been my pleasure to be a part of a ministry where you can see first hand the work that's being done.  Over the years I have worked on various projects (Women Retreats, Prayer Breakfast, Traveling Shoes, etc.,) I've seen the impact it has had on so many people.  My blessings come from seeing so many people being blessed through VLM.
The ministry newsletter is so informative and inspirational, if you're not on the mailing list, you need to join it now and encourage your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to join; don't miss out on your blessings!
I am so proud and privileged to be a part of Victorious Life Ministries.
