Jude 1:3 - 3 Beloved, my whole concern was to write to you in regard to our common salvation. [But] I found it necessary and was impelled to write you and urgently appeal to and exhort [you] to contend for the faith which was once for all [a]handed down to the saints [the faith which is that sum of Christian belief which was delivered [b]verbally to the holy people of God].  Amplified Bible

Jude had planned initially to write a letter on salvation, discussing the fact that it is the common blessing shared by all believers.  But he was compelled instead to write a call to action,  a call to  battle for the truth.  The issue was that the apostate teachers were now on the scene. An apostate is one who has abandoned one's religious faith, a political party, one's principles, or a cause.  Jude wrote urgently that the people of God must wage war against error in all forms.  He is saying that believers must fight for truth like soldiers who have been entrusted with a sacred task to guard  holy treasure.

My friend, you and I are still called to stand for truth, even in the face of personal ridicule, being called names, bullying and any other attack.  We cannot be silent when we hear the truth of God being distorted because it is more pleasing to man than God's Word.  This does not mean that we should enter into confusion and strife, but rather, there are some that we must pray for that their eyes be opened.  We need to pray that God use someone, even us to love them and nurture them until they come out of darkness into His marvelous.  There are still others who must be confronted.  Not in a hostile way, but there are times when we will be called upon to call error what it is and to speak the truth in love.  By speaking truth we may "snatch them back" from the fire. Contending for the faith is never just an intellectual exercise,  but is a real effort to bring change to the lives of others.

Your best proof that Jesus is real is that you live the life of one who has met Him and is now forever changed because of that meeting!

Beware - High Fructose Corn Syrup is not a Natural Food !

High fructose corn syrup, even in "moderation", contributes to heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia, liver failure, tooth decay, and more.  Yet, the corn industry refers to it as natural corn sugar and advertises that it is no different than cane sugar for our bodies.

Here are some important points to keep in mind:

1. HFCS and cane sugar are not the same biochemically and are not processed in the same way by our bodies. HFCS is an industrial food product that is extracted from corn stalks through a chemical enzymatic process. HFCS is sweeter and cheaper than cane sugar, which is why "supersizing " soft drinks does not cost much more than a regular size. The chemical make-up of HFCS results in greater appetite which increases weight gain, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, dementia, and other diseases. Furthermore, HFCS increases inflammation in our bodies which contributes to many disease processes.

2. HFCS frequently contains mercury and other contaminants that are not regulated or measured by the FDA.

3. HFCS generally indicates poor-quality, nutrient-poor, disease creating "food-like substances".

4. Independent medical and nutrition experts do not support HFCS in our diets.

HFCS is unfortunately now in many products, including bread, cereals, juice, sodas, yogurt, salad dressings, nutrition bars, and candy bars.  Therefore, the next time you are shopping for groceries, be sure to read the labels.

God bless!

We are coming to the close of January, but you still have an opportunity to be a part of our Make Life Better Campaign for the month.  In recent weeks we shared with you about our Sister who needs our help to maintain her home.  She has served the Kingdom of God for many years and has enriched thousands of lives.  Due to circumstances beyond her control, her home is being threatened and she needs our help.  Several of you have given and we are grateful.  We still have another week before we close out this campaign.  Will you make a donation of a minimum of $20.00 to help this Woman of God keep the roof over her head.

This week we extend a huge thank you to Ms. Mary E. Pugh of Wilmington, Delaware for her generous contribution.

If you are donating by check, please make it payable to VLM, P.O. Box 354074, Palm Coast, FL. 32135 or you may donate through our secure Paypal account.  Either way, designate that your gift is for this months MLB Campaign.

Thank you in advance for making life better and helping to meet this Sister's need!

Next week we will give you a total amount of donations received & pledged!

Get rid of unread magazine subscriptions

Do you have a pile of unread magazines sitting around your house?  Likely, it's the result of a subscription that you are no longer as interested in as you were initially.  Not only should you not renew that magazine, you should give their subscription department a call and try to cancel for a refund.  Sometimes they'll give you the prorated amount back.
