faye's words to live by!
Here we are at the very beginning of a new year. This is an exciting time because the new year also brings with it a freshness, optimism and hopefulness for the future. It gives one a sense of beginning again, and an opportunity to get some things right that may have been messed up in the past.
Most of us are familiar with the story of Job and how he suffered many things. He lost his wealth, family, and his health, even though he was a righteous man. Today I don't want to so much focus on Job but on his three friends. Their names were Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. They had come to comfort him, but their mission failed terribly and their comfort turned into more torment for Job. What started out as a sincere effort to help Job understand his dilemma turned mean and sarcastic. Job 16:2 - "I have heard many things like these; you are miserable comforters, all of you!" Have you ever really blown it with a friend? In your desire to give good advice, have you ever allowed a little too much of you and maybe not enough Christ to show up? In your desire to help, have you possibly wounded a friend who was already hurting? I think that we can learn some things from Job's friends. First of all no matter how much you think you know about a person or their situation, only God knows all. Before giving counsel, seek God for what your role should be, what to say and how to say it. Secondly don't allow the person's response or even lack of response to your counsel to make you defensive and angry. Your primary goal can't be to display your wisdom or to be right, but to walk in love and to comfort. Pray with and for your friend. Even if it doesn't look like God is moving, release your faith in the situation, knowing that God is in control. Finally, if you believe that you have wronged your friend, regardless of your intention, apologize to the friend and get it right.
These would be counselors had become the actual enemies of Job and had brought him to tears. Don't you become the enemy of your friend.

Last week we asked for your help. We shared with you that we are raising money to help a fellow believer keep her home. She has experienced tremendous hardship recently through no fault of her own. She has served the Kingdom of God for many years and is now in a season of lack.
The following individuals have already given and we want to publicly thank them for their generous gifts and generous spirit:
Ms. Marion Shelby - Palm Coast, Fl.
Mr. James Morrison - Palm Coast, Fl.
Mrs. Sandra Brown, Hillside, N.J.
Ms. Erica Samuels - Philadelphia, Pa.
I John 3:17 - "If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?"
This is a serious need! We are not asking you to give out of what you don't have, but rather out of what you do have. Consider a minimum $20.00 gift today to help a Woman of God remain in her home. God will surely bless you for what you do for His glory! You may make your checks payable to Victorious Life Ministries and mail to VLM, P.O. Box 354074, Palm Coast, FL. 32135 or go to our website at www.vl-ministries.org and donate through our secure PayPal account.
The entire month of January we will keep this need before you update you weekly on those who have given. At the end of the month we will provide you with our grand total and forward a check to the recipient. Together let's make a bold statement of God's faithfulness to His own.

God has blessed us with you, some of the most generous people anywhere. As you have given, we have been able to meet the needs of many. The Traveling Shoes outreach began in October 2012 and is going strong. As of today's date you have provided new shoes and socks to 178 children. God be praised.
Each week we talk about the great work that your gifts make possible. This week and in the coming weeks, we will acknowledge those by name who make this ministry possible. Our donors for the week are:
Mr. & Mrs. Roy Benjamin - Palm Coast, Florida
their donation is in memory of their daughter, Loretta Benjamin who passed away just a short time ago.
Mr. & Mrs. Henry Sellers - Greenville, N.C.
Mr. & Mrs. Alan Hicks - Wilmington, De.
Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Brown - Hillside, N.J.
These gifts along with our monthly partners and supporters who have continued to support Victorious Life Ministries mean that their are children who have good shoes on their feet and a smile on their face.
We still have more requests than we have resources. We need you to get involved and help make a difference in the lives of children all over this country.
On behalf of every one of these children who feels better about him/herself, who is not being bullied or ridiculed because of worn out shoes, whose feet are warm, dry and comfortable, THANK YOU!

 | Jonathan McReynolds - Lovin' Me |
Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, Jonathan grew up in the church and began playing drums at his church as a young child. He moved onto playing the organ and singing in the youth choir, inspired by gospel greats such a Kim Burrell, Smokie Norful and Israel Houghton, and even R&B and rock and roll giants like Stevie Wonder, India Arie, John Mayer, and Paul McCartney. But actually, singing was not his forte at the time. "I didn't like singing back then," Jonathan admits. "I wasn't the type of person who was a front man. I was OK with just playing the organ. I wasn't ready for that criticism of being out in front, and in the spotlight."
In 2007, Jonathan went on to pursue a bachelor's degree in Urban and Popular Music at Columbia College in Chicago, which allowed him to perfect his vocal skills, master the piano, and study the performance, production, and business side of the music industry. He even set up a small studio in his dorm room, taking the time between classes to write and record music. But it was his junior year in 2009, when his life would be changed forever. He put together a few songs and created a CD called The Very Unofficial EP of Jonathan McReynolds to give as a Christmas gift for his family. "I got a good response from them and also from friends coming in and out of my dorm room who were just hanging out and listening to my stuff."
"I feel like God knows who I am. He knows my strengths and weaknesses and he wanted me to do this. What humbles me is that I know this is what God wants to do in this season of my life," Jonathan says. "I see how it's affecting other people. I see how it affects youth. I see how it affects young black men like me. He's giving me the opportunity to shine, to point people to Him."
