Save The Date:

Statewide Realtor Breakfast - April 3, 2015

We've been daydreaming of spring - not just because winter has saddled our good spirits with record-breaking snow totals - but because the spring homebuying season is right around the corner. If last year is any indication, we can look forward to an exciting year for the housing market.

Our Homeownership Division had an active year in 2014 and reached its highest lending level since 2008, closing more than $132 million in loans (an 84% increase from 2013)! We attribute this success to the immense growth of our lender partnerships, our programs and, perhaps most importantly, our relationship with you

We'd like to share that excitement with you face-to-face...

...which is why we are inviting you to join us at Rhode Island Housing's annual Realtor Breakfast on April 3. Take some time to enjoy the company of your colleagues, learn more about our programs and services, and hear about the latest market trends over a hot breakfast at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick. We have a four-time Realtor of the Quarter winner!

One of last year's speakers at the Realtor Breakfast earned Rhode Island Housing's Realtor of the Quarter Award for the fourth time. In January, Speaker of the House Nicholas A. Mattiello (D-District 15 - Cranston) joined Rhode Island Housing Acting Executive Director Barbara Fields to present Williams & Stuart Real Estate's very own Dee Southerland with a special crystal plaque to commemorate the occasion. FirstHomes Tax Credit Update

In the last six months of 2014,  402

homebuyers took advantage of this program, which could generate up to $800,000 in savings in the first year alone. And good news: Our Board approved another round of funding for the tax credit program this year!

Help your customers receive up to a $2,000 tax credit for the life of their loan by telling them about Rhode Island Housing's FirstHomes Tax Credit Program.

Housing News

With the recent announcement that the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) will be reducing the annual premiums it charges for single-family loans from 1.35% to .85% of the loan amount, the agency anticipates that the average FHA borrower will save around $900 per year.

Coupled with the FirstHomes Tax Credit, new homebuyers in Rhode Island would be able to receive an annual savings of up to $2,900 per year.

In the Community

Last month, Rhode Island Housing staff manned a booth at the Southern New England Bridal Expo, greeting blushing brides with information about the next step in their lives: homeownership!

We also attended the annual Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns' Annual Convention, where our experts led seminars on some of the state's top housing issues.
