It's been another inspiring year of community fellows, just like you, coming together talking, doing, thinking, sharing, collaborating, laughing, acknowledging, and celebrating the community we live in.

We truly appreciate that you're our partner, and hope you continue to collaborate with us to reach the dreams and visions of ongoing renewal in Philmont.

This year, with your help, Philmont Beautification was nominated a local hero, extended our community's connection with new partners, and expanded the conversation with state and county linking the village to regional projects.

To reach the dreams, hopes, and visions shared this year, we now need your help again to bring the goals closer to home to advance the projects we've set out to achieve.

This year we're trying hard to increase local support by raising $25,000 (25% of annual operating costs) with the help of people like you.

Working together, this is what we all accomplished in 2015:

  • Working together to develop the Waterfront District Revitalization Plan in collaboration with the Village of Philmont
  • Discussing the hopes, visions and challenges in four Open Houses
  • Sharing community ideas with the Village of Philmont in ten lively meetings
  • Learning with Village Office staff how we can all work together
  • Ensuring the 400 comments received at Open Houses strengthen the plan
  • Establishing the voice of the community in four County meetings
  • Bringing guest speakers to Philmont to help us understand how special this community is
  • Celebrating collaboration
This project has been made possible through a Brownfield Opportunity Area program facilitated with the NYS Department of State.  It is assisting the Village of Philmont to hire professional planners and engineers to conduct a full assessment of Summit Lake for hydro-power potential, a market analysis of Philmont, and produce an economic development plan aimed at vacant mills, abandoned affordable housing, public parks, and the connection of Summit Lake development to existing downtown revitalization.

Kids Grow and Cook

If The Kitchen can open then our Kids Grow & Cook program will start in May teaching kids and families to grow and cook with our local chefs!
Kitchen community partners include local farm-to-table chefs, gardeners, and bakers who will guide the children in preparing one meal per week to share with their families at the end of every workshop.
