Evacuation Drill

The single most important thing we do at this school is to ensure the safety of our children and staff. As is our annual tradition, on Wednesday, October 14, we will rehearse the total evacuation of our campus. The students will move to safety zones established as transportation pick up areas.

If a real emergency were to occur, our students would be transported to Crews Middle for dismissal and/or parent check out. We will not follow through to this level at this time. However, the transportation department will rehearse the deployment of one or two buses as their part of the drill. Our Security Officer will also assist with our drill.
Please be assured that the faculty and staff prepare our students by discussing the process in a developmentally appropriate way and the children tend to see this as a safety walking field trip. There will be nothing discussed or experienced that will frighten the children.

Let me thank you in advance for your support of our preparedness drills and let me request that no check ins, check outs, nor observations, occur between 1:30PM and 2:30PM on Wednesday, October 14th. No cars will be admitted on the school grounds in order to clear the driveway for our students. Please also help us by dressing your child for the weather. They will be outside for approximately 20 minutes. Once again, we place nothing ahead of the safety of our students.

Additionally, other drills do occur to prepare for fires, tornadoes, lost students and intruders to the campus. If you have any questions that we can assist in clarifying, please call us at 770-978-5560. We have a most positive track record with this drill. We are looking forward to the same again this year as well. Thank you again for the honor and privilege of protecting and educating our incredible children.

Sincerely,

Angie Wright, Principal
