This week we celebrate debate in Brooklyn!  

On Saturday in Brooklyn, we hosted the first Brooklyn Debate Championships. New York City's first all Brooklyn debate tournament! Congratulations to all participants and congratulations to all winners!  Final debates at the US District Courthouse at Borough Hall. 

On Tuesday in Brooklyn, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton will debate! The debate will be televised on CNN and NY1 live from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The debate will be moderated by CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer. Hillary Clinton was an award winning high school debater. On Thursday in Brooklyn, New York City's top two policy debate teams (both from Brooklyn!) will be traveling to California to compete at the National Association of Urban Debate League Championships at San Francisco State University! Good luck to both Brooklyn schools of ACORN Community High School and Brooklyn Tech in California! 

Our final shout outs for the week is for next weekend's borough championships in the Bronx and Queens. Our debaters again make history by participating in the all Bronx and all Queens debate tournaments!

Don't miss the debate between Democratic Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders this Tuesday in Brooklyn! Both were debaters in High School! Hillary Clinton was an award winning debater on her high school's debate team. Bernie Sanders participated in numerous speeches and debates in student government at his high school in Brooklyn! Congratulations to our high school seniors who are graduating this year!  Please send us any college updates at [email protected]! This week we spotlight 
High School Senior Darlyn Liriano who helps run our Tabroom nearly every Saturday at tournaments. And we guess she's busy the rest of the week because she was just accepted to Yale University and Princeton University!.... That's a tough debate! She also has spare time to coach at Middle School PS/MS 15 in the Bronx which is one of the top middle school debate teams in the league! Congrats Darlyn! And congrats to the rest of our high school seniors!

Good luck to ACORN High School and Brooklyn Tech High School for representing NYC at the National Championships of the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues. Both schools were the top ranked teams at the NYC City Championships Tournament.  Both teams and teachers received full scholarships to attend the National Tournament in California! Thank you to the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues and thank you to Board Chair David Budinger for sponsoring our teams in California!

Thank you to the Bronx Defenders for hosting the Final Rounds on April 19th! The Bronx Defenders is one of the nation's leading legal advocacy organizations and dedicated to holistic lawyering. Also shout outs to Bronx Debater and Tabroom Director, Darlyn Liriano who was accepted to both Yale University and Princeton University!
