NYCUDL DEBATERS JUDGING THE FIRST DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE ON FOX NEWS!

Greetings!

This week we shout out the Presidential Debates! The first Democratic Presidential debate is Tuesday, October 13th on CNN at 9pm ET.  The following week our debaters will be judging the Presidential debaters on Fox News!  Thank you to Fox News for featuring our debaters after each Presidential Debate this year!  Click here for NYCUDL students critiquing the first presidential debate! Click here to watch NYCUDL debaters critiquing the second presidential debate!

Speaking about the Presidential Debates... one of the debaters this Tuesday on CNN is a former high school debater! Before becoming New York State Senator, Secretary of State, First Lady of the United States, and now the Democratic frontrunner - Hillary Clinton - was on her high school's debate team! Click here to read a great article by the New York Times on Hillary Clinton's debate preparation in high school, college and career. As President John F. Kennedy stated,

"I think debating in high school and college a most valuable training whether for politics, the law, business, or for service... A good debater must not only study material in support of his own case, but he must also, of course, thoroughly analyze the expected arguments of his opponent....The give and take of debating, the testing of ideas, is essential to democracy. I wish we had a good deal more debating in our institutions than we do now"

And if you are a new school interested in joining New York City's debate league

Sincerely,

THE NEW YORK CITY URBAN DEBATE LEAGUE
