This week we celebrate the CITI Foundation's New York City High School Debate Championships coming up this Saturday! Every high school in New York City is invited to send their top two debate teams in each debate event and division. Thank you to the CITI Foundation and the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues for making this program possible. Thank you to all our incredible high school teachers, coaches, students, and principals for your support of high school debate this year. And not too late to sign up to judge at the tournament! New York State Championships Results! March 14th - 15th.
Last weekend the New York State Debate Championships was hosted at Stuyvesant High School. The top debate teams from across New York competed in every national debate event including policy debate, public forum debate and parliamentary debate. Congratulations to our NYC debaters who won top awards in every division! Special shout outs to Brooklyn Tech High School which won 1st Place in the Varsity Division and swept all the Junior Varsity awards! Click here for complete tournament results.

Canada & NYC Exhibition Debate
March 9th!
We would like to thank the Debate Team from Brentwood College in Canada for visiting New York City and participating in our first Canada-New York City Exhibition Debate! We had a fantastic evening of dinner, workshop and parliamentary debates! We are so honored to host Canada because as it is our first year with high school parliamentary debate - we have so much to learn from the rest of the world! Indeed, parliamentary debate is the largest debate event in the world and now the largest collegiate debate event in the United States. Click here to learn more.

Korea & NYC Exhibition Debate
March 21-22nd!
This weekend we host a special exhibition debate with the South Korean national debate champions! Day 1 will be an exhibition debate tournament. One round will feature a workshop on Korean Parliamentary debate style and then debate round using the Korean Parliamentary Debate format. The second round will feature a workshop on American Parliamentary debate style and then debate round using the American Parliamentary Debate format. Day 2 will be be a workshop and overview of all the American debate formats of policy debate, public forum debate and parliamentary debate. Click here to learn more.

 This year the Citi Foundation and National Association of Urban Debate Leagues united on a historical partnership to expand higher education, economic and financial literacy opportunities for tens of thousands of students across the country. The culmination in New York City is the Citi Foundation's New York City Debate Championships! NYC Elementary School Championships Tournament
March 21st!
This coming Saturday is our first Elementary School Debate Championships Tournament! Thank you Tyler Beattie and PS 149 for hosting the tournament. Thank you to all our elementary school teachers and schools! The topic for the tournament is whether children should use social media. Good luck to all our debaters! Girls Debate League Tournament
March 23rd!
The Girls Debate League is the first girls debate league in the nation with programs year round to support our young women. In the fall, spring, and summer, we host tournaments and workshops! On Monday, March 23rd we host our Spring Girls Debate League Tournament at Hunter College! Over 100 students will be participating in the event which includes a morning workshop on the topic of the Equal Rights Amendment, and afternoon debates. Kirkland & Ellis National Qualifier
March 25th!
At the end of the school year are the National Championship Debate Tournaments! These include the Tournament of Champions, the National Speech and Debate Association's National Championship, the National Debate Coaches Championships, National Catholic Forensics League National Championships. Many of our top debaters have qualified for these championship tournaments. However, the cost of travel are prohibitive and the vast majority of our debaters and schools cannot afford such travel.
But thanks to the support of Kirkland & Ellis, we are able to host a national qualifying tournament to offer scholarships to the winning top teams in policy debate and public forum debate so that they can attend these National Championship tournaments.
