This week we celebrate our new website ... www.debate.nyc!  Huge thank you to Adrian Uribarri (http://adrianuribarri.com/) who was a college debater at the University of Florida and helped us get started on WordPress!  We cannot express how thankful we are! And definitely let us know any feedback as we continuously improve on our website to provide the best educational opportunities for all our students!

Hunters Point NEW YORK CITY MIDDLE SCHOOL CONFERENCE #5 PUBLIC FORUM & POLICY DEBATE
at Hunters Point Community Middle School

Yesterday, we celebrated our February Tournament Conference.  The Public Forum and Policy Debate divisions were held at Hunters Point Community Middle School in Queens. Thank you so much to Hunters Point for hosting the tournament! Thank you to all attendees!  Over 200 debaters, judges, teachers, volunteers and staff participated in tournament on debate topics including: (1) Resolved: On balance, economic globalization benefits worldwide poverty reduction and (2)
Resolved: On balance, immigration is beneficial to the United States economy.  Thank you to all our judges and volunteers who made this incredible tournament possible! Below are the top award winners.  A huge congratulations to all participants! The New York City Urban Debate League hosts the longest and largest summer debate program in the nation with debate institutes throughout the summer in each of the boroughs. Our summer program is free for all schools and students that are members of the NYC Debate League, thanks to the incredible support of the Arthur Rupe Foundation.

About the High School Division
The New York City High School Debate League is one of the most successful debate leagues in the nation. Our debaters have won city, state, regional and national championships.  Our debaters have reached the elimination rounds at every majority national debate tournament including Harvard University, Yale University, Georgetown University, Dartmouth University. Between 95% - 100% of our high school debaters graduate and are accepted to college - many receiving full or partial scholarships because of debate.
