New York City Middle School Tournament #3 (12/6/14)
 LAST WEEKEND...
THE LARGEST MIDDLE SCHOOL DEBATE TOURNAMENT IN NYC HISTORY WITH 500+ STUDENTS!

NEXT WEEKEND...
NEW YORK CITY HIGH SCHOOL TOURNAMENT #2 AND
NEW YORK CITY TRAVEL TEAM TOURNAMENT #4!

This week we celebrate our Middle School and Elementary School Debaters!  Over 500 students competed this weekend, 161 judges volunteered, and 39 schools participated in the largest middle school tournament in New York City history!  Thank you to all students, parents, judges, volunteers, staff, teachers, principals and everyone for making this weekend so inspiring.  NYC middle school students debated the following topics yesterday: (1) prison reform, (2) ocean and environmental policy, (3) legalization of assisted suicide, (4) ethics of eating meat, and (5) education reform. Additional history was made in the Public Forum & Policy Debate Divisions with two features thanks to Tabroom Director Peter Berrard!  First, debate tournament updates are now LIVE! during the tournament on www.speechwire.com/live!  Everyone can log in for live updates of tournament rounds, schedules, schematics, and results!  Second, for the first time we featured a fourth "Champion Round" in each division featuring the top two teams and a panel of expert judges!

Next week is NYC High School Tournament #2!  The registration deadline to sign up is this Wednesday on www.speechwire.com.  And we always need judges, so please click here to sign up to judge this coming Saturday!  And good luck to our High School Travel Team which will be competing in New Jersey next weekend!

Thanks again to everyone making Saturday's tournament such a success!

Sincerely,
