One Size Never Fits All by Cantor Mary Thomas
CantorMary
This morning, a voice on my radio said, "Just remember, one-size-fits-all really means one-size-fits-none."

This is the truth.

If one-size-fits-all is supposed to mean, "one-size-will-sufficienty-cover-you-while-making-you-look-absolutely-atrocious," then maybe, or "one-size-fits-AWKWARD!" (I'm reminded of my friend and TBE's former Director of Youth Engagement Andy Harkavy rocking out a one-size-fits-all Clifford costume... If you were there, you remember too.)

Then, there is the even more horrifying "one-size-fits-most." What if it doesn't fit you? Now, you are immediately marginalized to a corner of the population that is other to "most". I will tell you, "most" people are not too eager to be on the outside of "most". Read more.

In Case You Missed It: Going Green at TBE

Our Building Property & Grounds Committee is forming The Green Team, a subcommittee that will focus on reducing the Temple's carbon footprint and becoming a more sustainable congregation. All congregants interested in these green initiatives are invited to attend the kickoff meeting at TBE on July 13 at 7:00pm. To RSVP and for more information, please contact Laura Bernstein.

Coming Up: Schloss Summer Lecture

Temple Beth El is pleased to announce that Gil Tamary, the Washington Bureau Chief for Israel's Channel 10, will be the featured speaker at the annual Schloss Summer Lecture on Friday, July 17 at 7:15pm. Tamary is a seasoned journalist who has covered the Middle East during his tenures at the Broadcasting Authority, Israel Public Radio, Good Morning Israel and Israel's Channel 10.
