Purim Congregational Dinner

Wearing costumes is welcomed! We will conclude the dinner with a Tot parade from services into the sanctuary for our Congregational Shabbat Service.  Member Discount Price: $10/adult and $6/children under 12, Regular Price: $12/adult and $8/Children under 12. Children under 3 are always free.  Bring your own bottle of wine if you'd like.   

 

Community Shabbat Service and Purim Shpiel
Friday, March 14th at 7:00 pm
We will welcome Shabbat as we do each week with our beautiful liturgy. We will conclude the service with a celebratory Megillah Reading and Purim Shpiel as our Temple Beth El prime time players boldly go where no Jews have gone before and offer a Star Trek inspired Purim celebration.  The evening will conclude with Hamantashen at our Oneg Shabbat.

Fulfill the mitzvah of reading the Book of Esther and celebrate Purim with an appropriate beverage. BYOB and there will be some libations selected by Rabbi Jonathan.

Volunteers Needed

Support TBE's Healthcare Team by signing up to do patient "check in" or "check out" duties on a second Tuesday night of the month for 2.5 hours at Charlotte Community Health Clinic. You should like working with people and have computer skills to perform these tasks. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not necessary. Please contact project co-chairs Jill Lipson (704-936-9808 or Here) or Susan Abroms (404-556-1680 or Here). We need your help to serve the uninsured in Mecklenburg County!

  Our Condolences

Garrison "Gary" Davis, father of Melissa Schine, died March 5, 2014.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, March 7, 2014. Shiva Minyanim will take place at the Davis home, 9022 Cotton Press Road, Charlotte 28277: Tuesday, March 11th, Wednesday, March 12th and Thursday, March 13th at 7:45 pm.

Jewish Community Night at the Bobcats - Monday March 24th

 

The Charlotte Bobcats are hosting a Jewish Community Night on Monday, March 24th. This Bobcats game is against the Houston Rockets, featuring Omri Caspri, the famous Israeli basketball player.

 

Some Highlights of the Event:

  • We have been given Pregame VIP access to the arena, starting at 5pm, to watch the players' shootaround and some fun Jewish community engagement.  
  • Youth will receive cool basketball yarmulkes as a way of remembering this event- with an inscription on the inside. 
  • $2 from every ticket will be given back to JFS. 
  • Opportunity our youth have the opportunity to be one of 40 to high five the players as they take the court for the 2nd half.
