Comparative Religion Series
Jan. 28th - Feb. 25th 2014   

On five consecutive Tuesdays, from 7:00 - to 9:00 pm at Temple Beth El, educators and religious leaders representing nine Charlotte area faiths will discuss their faith's perspectives on EVIL... Human or Divine?  For more information about the Comparative Religion Series,  Click Here.

Superheroes and Judaism: Movies, TV, Comics, Books, and More!

Classes meet on three consecutive Wednesdays, February 5th, 12th, & 19th from 7:00-9:00 pm.  Join Rabbi Jonathan and Sara Bryan Markovits for a multi-media exploration of the Jewish imagination's expression into the realm of superheroes.

Our Condolences

 

Marc Granow, father of Robert Granow, died on January 19, 2014. The funeral and shiva took place in Connecticut.

 

Barbara Wershbale, grandmother of Ivy Berman, died this morning, January 24, 2014.  Funeral arrangements are private.

 

Barbara Feldman, mother of Staci Mond, died Friday, January 24, 2014.  The funeral was held Monday, January 27, 2014.  Shiva Minyans will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28th and Wednesday, Jan 29th at 7:45 pm at Staci & Darren Mond's home, 6903 Augustine Lane, Charlotte 28270.

Friday, February 7th - 8:00pm: "Late at the Eight Shabbat Experience" - In a coffee-house setting, enjoy Dr. Dulin's creative and dynamic presentation as she introduces us to exceptional Biblical characters.
 
Saturday, February 8th - 9:00am: Shabbat Morning Workshop - "The Book of Esther: Then and Today."
11:00am: Congregational Shabbat service with the D'var Torah presented by Dr. Dulin. 
5:00pm: Havdalah "Purim Katan" - Dr. Dulin will explore issues surrounding the Jewish calendar.

Want to come to a kallah, but worried about the cost? Temple Beth El 

has AVODAH hours for you!  For each AVODAH hour that you complete, Temple Beth El will contribute $7.50 toward a Kallah registration or the bus-it's your choice!  The next opportunity:

  • Earn 2 hours helping at Tot Shabbat February 8th, 9-10 AM 
  • Earn 2 hours cleaning the activity center on Monday January 27th from 4-6 PM
