This Friday! Family Shabbat Worship
Families with kids K-6, we have a Shabbat service just for you! Join Ms. Patty, Cantor Mary, and Rabbi Jonathan for our Family Shabbat service at 6PM this Friday, November 1. This compact service is filled with music, easily understood English readings, and a story. This service is geared towards grade school children and their families, though congregants of all ages are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
This Friday! Late at 8 Worship Experience
Join Rabbi Jonathan and Cantor Mary for a Shabbat worship experience exploring the sanctity of the Shabbat Table. Through sharing study and song around the shabbat table, we will elevate our sense of community and the Divine. We encourage you to bring a bottle of wine or the beverage of your choice to share with those at your table.
Join us for a Preneg in the Atrium beginning at 5:20 pm prior to the 6:00 pm worship services. An Oneg Shabat will follow the "Late at Eight" worship service.

Religious School
Teaching Opportunity! - Judaica teacher to work with Tikvah Charlotte on Sunday mornings from 10-12. This person will help plan lessons for a variety of learning styles. Teaching style should be flexible and creative as hands on activities work best. Candidate should be able to help with simple Hebrew. iPads are available for student use for research or for playing games that are beneficial for learning. Sterling Elementary School Needs our Help...
During the month of October, our school will be collecting snacks for the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes at Sterling Elementary, our partner school. Sterling is a low income area school and Temple Beth El has committed to helping in many different ways. There are volunteer and collection opportunities.

Leadership Shabbat
Join us as we honor our Leadership - Past, Present and Future
We are honored to have Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President of the Union of Reform Judaism, join us for this special Shabbat worship.
On Friday, November 8th at 7pm, our year-long birthday celebration culminates with a Shabbat to celebrate Temple Beth El's Leadership- past, present and future. The sermon will be given by our honored guest- Rabbi Rick Jacobs, President of the Union for Reform Judaism. Read about Rabbi Jacobs by clicking here.
Rabbi Jacobs will present the sermon entitled, "Reimagining Jewish Life - Reform Judaism at a Crossroads." Congregants will participate in the service, our teen band and teen vocal ensemble will enhance the service, and we'll honor Past Presidents, Farber Leadership Program alumni and current participants, and our Youth leadership.
The worship service will be followed by a festive Oneg honoring our past leadership |
Kristallnacht Conversations
Improve the Future, Remember the Past
Saturday, November 9, 5:00 PM at Temple Beth El in the Larry & Dale Polsky Beit Midrash.
Join Dr. Susan Cernyk-Spatz and Rabbi Jonathan for intriguing discussions of the history of this day on the Jewish calendar, the Night of Broken Glass, and the ways in which we can use this memory to transform the present and future for the better.

Inclusion Shabbat
Friday Nov. 15th
Temple Beth El welcomes the greater Charlotte community to its annual Inclusion Shabbat. Temple Beth El's LGBT advocacy group, the Keshet Comittee ("Keshet" is Hebrew for Rainbow), sponsors this event to raise awareness and strengthen the bonds between our diverse congregants and community members. Krista Tillman, a leader in our community with Novant Health, Queens University, and formerly Bell South, will address " Being 'out' as a straight ally in the Bible Belt" as well as share her thoughts on advocacy and changing hearts and minds regarding human rights and LGBT issues, including the economic importance of inclusion. Saturday, November 16 - Inclusion Shabbat Workshop
On Saturday morning, November 16, a Shabbat workshop from 9:00 to 10:30 am, will address issues of transgender education and inclusion. Marcia Rogers, a cherished participant in Beth El life and experienced presenter on this topic will share her personal story entitled:"Being T(trans) Or the World of Tall Women and Short Men." A Q&A session and discussion of Jewish sources on the topic with Rabbi Judy Schindler will follow the workshop . Bagel and Coffee will be served. Please consider a donation of $5.
